Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
Let me start by saying I usually only rate a recipe if I am giving it 5 stars, however considering this recipes great ratings I just had to review it. My son LOVES snickerdoodles and although I am avid baker this is one cookie I just never tried to bake so I figured I'd give it a shot after seeing this one's rave reviews. I followed the recipe to the T with the exception of using all butter and not shortening because I rarely use shortening in my baking (butter just gives better flavor and better results and is healthier). I had no problems with the dough and they baked up nicely after 9-10 minutes, not as puffy as I hoped, but good enough. However all these taste like is a jazzed up sugar cookie. These do not tast like true snickerdoodles. They are rather bland. My son only ate 1 cookie and the rest have been sitting on the counter...this says alot b/c he usually will finish off a batch of cookies in two days. My husband likes them but not enough to request them again...I decided to give this 3 stars only because they did taste a little better the next day. If you're looking for a true snickerdoodle recipe that tastes like the ones you buy in a store or coffee shop, keep searching, I know I am.
