About this Cook
I'm a married mom of a 5 year old, and a 2 1/2 year old. I never really cooked much after I moved out, before I met my husband. Over the years I've slowly learned how to make more and more meals, until I can now improvise easily.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta. Wraps (with anything from beans, to chicken to beef fillings). Rice-Messes (rice with any meat and veggie mixed in - sometimes with a can of soup). Enchiladas. I also just got a nice 6qt crock pot, and am trying lots of things in it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents made Schnitzel and Spatzle for my birthday almost every year. It was mainly a special occasion dinner which we also had many Christmases. And Christmas eve was always snack food: cheese, crackers, pickles, olives, meats, etc. My husband and I picked up this tradition and continue it. We like to add some gourmet goodies in there that we don't buy throughout the year
My cooking triumphs
I have experimented with new things more the past 4 years. I even surprised myself with an awesome eggplant casserole. I also make a to-die-for peanut butter pie, and rum chicken marinade.
My cooking tragedies
Yorkshire Pudding is something I have yet to master. I burnt rice in a microwave once because I forgot to add water. For the longest time I couldn't bake anything - even package cupcakes I managed to ruin. I'm getting better now.

Amish White Bread
Best bread recipe to date. Many breads I've tried ended up with a super hard crust and way too soft inside, resulting in me crushing the bread while trying to delicately slice it. This is soft and spongy and a nice little sweet taste to it. The crust is not hard (finally!!). I'm sticking to this recipe from now on.

Popovers
OMG! The best! I have never successfully made yorkshire pudding or popovers, but these turned out incredible!!!! I only had to alter the recipe a little bit to fit what I had on hand. Margarine instead of butter and Homogenized milk instead of regular (because hubby grabbed the wrong one). Dont let the butter bubble, it might not make it, just let it melt. I also added chopped garlic and some Italian seasoning. As well, I used a mini loaf pan instead of a muffin pan. The whole pan was gone in minutes. It was INCREDIBLY tasty.

Killer Koolade
We used to make this often when we were younger. Goes really well with half cranberry and half club soda for a bubbly sensation.
