Lemon Lover's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
I followed the recipe to a T but this cake came out dry. Maybe because it was so dry it didn't taste particularly lemony to me. I was very disappointed. I gave 3 stars because my 8 year old thought it was yummy but I noticed that she needed to drink lots of juice with her piece.

Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
This recipe rocks. I doubled the sauce because I wanted more gravy. I used the seasonings to taste though because of the reviews I read about it being bland. I adjusted salt, garlic, onion powder, parsely and such until it suited my taste. I also added a chicken boullion cube. I didn't use any wine though. I used grape vinegar (again, to taste) and it came out beautifully. I served over rice for my husband and myself and over mashed potatoes for my daughters. Nice recipe.

Easy Pasta Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
My husband loved this, but the kids were not so excited. I had to tweak it a bit. First I followed the suggestion of other reveiwers by cutting the chicken into bite sized pieces. Then I sprinkled garlic powder, pepper, paprika, parsley flakes, and dried onions over the chicken as I browned it. I also added grape vinegar to the mushroom soup, a chicken bouillion cube and more seasoning, salted to taste. I made sure the pasta was cooked al dente before adding the chicken back into the skillet. As I was waiting for the pasta, I did have to add more grape vinegar and a bit of water to keep it from thickening up too much before I added the chicken. I'll make it again because it's easy, but I'll add more pasta and maybe add another can of cream of mushroom soup.

Dad's Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
I took the suggestion of other reviewers and decreased the white sugar and increased the brown sugar. I also added a 1/4 cup more peanut butter. Deeeeelicous. I pushed some chocolate chips and peanut butter chips into the cookies after they came out of the oven. Even better!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
This was easy and delicious. I used chicken parts because that's what I had. Breasts and boneless, skinless thighs. I added grape vinegar, garlic powder and dried onion flakes to the bottom of the pot. I also added dill and parsly flakes to the seasoning. I stirred it at least three times and it took about 5 hours on high. My family loved it. The next day I shredded the chicken and threw everything into a fresh drained pot of pasta. I added a little water and mixed it all up and it was delicious as well. Great recipe.

Butter Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
I've never used a crock pot before so this was my first time. I messed up a little by adding water to the pot and not adding the butter and putting 2 extra packets of onion soup. When I realized my mistake an hour later I tasted the broth. It was thin so I added the butter and some grape vinegar. I didn't want to add any salt because of the extra onion soup packets. I figured once some of the liquid evaporated, the salt would be fine. I cooked it the recommended time and cooked it on high for the last hour with the lid slightly ajar to let out more steam. I took out a cup of broth and added some cornstarch to it. Mixed it with the broth and repeate until it made a gravy with a good consistency. It came out really nice! The vinegar gave it a beautiful taste and my family loved it. I served it with flavored rice and lemon corn. I will make this again!

Sweet Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
My kids liked it but it was too sweet for me and I didn't use as much sugar. We did 1/2 of sugar and 1/4 of honey. Next time I think I'll do 1/2 a cup of honey and stop.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe. I took the advice of other reviewers and added 1 tsp of garlic and chopped onions. I also upped the curry powder to 2 tsp. I melted a boullioun cube with half the butter and covered it with foil until the last 20 minutes. You do need to baste this chicken. The chicken was delicious. My family really loved it. I'll be making this again. Tip: If you make the sauce as it is, it makes a wonderful dip for fried chicken nuggets and fingers. Just tweak the mustard and honey to your taste.

Very Best Blueberry Cobbler!

excellent recipe. I thought it was too sweet right out of the oven but the next day, it was perfect. I will be using this recipe often. Works best with fresh blueberries however, and you may want to make extra topping.

Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly except for adding a teaspoon of vanilla and I was 1/2 a cup of peaches short. I added a tablespoon of sugar to my peaches as well and it made a nice syrup. The batter was EXTREMELY thick, like a cookie dough. I thought I had done something wrong but I persevered. I added the peaches and it loosened up a little, but not that much. I was tired and ready to go to bed so I just spooned them into the muffin pan. They looked wonderful when they came out of the oven and when they had cooled down enough to eat..... WOW! They taste SOOOOOOO good! (Especially after the spiced peach oatmeal muffin fiasco. DON'T waste your fresh peaches on that!) But back to the peach muffins......It doesn't taste like a peach cobbler, to be sure. It tastes more like a cookie! Reminds me of snickerdoodles. Then when you get a bit of peach with it, it's like a party in your mouth! The only change I would make is to add a cup of peaches to the 1/2 cup I was short. My daughter wants me to add that it's so sweet it makes your taste buds go wild. This is a recipe I will definitely make again.

Jordan Marsh Style Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
These are the best blueberry muffins I've ever tasted. I was especially pleased because it made EXACTLY 12 muffins. I HATE having leftover muffin batter. I made a crumb topping instead of the one in the recipe. 2 tbspns brown sugar, 2 tbspns butter, and 1/3 cup of flour mixed together till crumbly. Put on top of the muffins before you put them in the oven. My husband and I couldn't get enough of them but the kids didn't care for them. Oh well...more for us!! :)

Spiced Peach Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
These were not as sweet as I would have liked. They are actually a bit bland and yucky. I got excited when I saw the molasses in the ingredients, but it's like a fancy bran muffin. The peaches improve the taste but I was really disappointed and sorry that I wasted my fresh peaches. I don't think I'll be using this recipe again.

Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I've had better cobbler. This was not sweet enough for me, however, my daughter and husband loved it. I think that IF I make it again I'll add a couple tablespoons of sugar to the peaches and use fresh peaches instead of canned.
