About this Cook
My name is Holly. I'm a student and I work full time. I am an artist and I see my cooking as an extention of that.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking vegetarian food. I am inspired a lot by Mediterranian style cooking as well as Asian. Traditional American food is not really my thing. I come from a long line of Southern home cookers, so I like to take their recipes and put new, healthy spins on them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is really into Southern home-style cooking. It involves lots of grease, meat, and potatoes. I have gravitated over time to a more non-traditional way of food preparation, but I also know how to to stick to my roots.
My cooking triumphs
Cheesecake without a crack in the center...now to learn how to make a yummy vegan cheesecake!
My cooking tragedies
bread has been very unsuccessful thus far...

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men
I thought these were really good. I accidentally put in an entire teaspoon of nutmeg instead of half. No one seemed to notice! Cookies had a good, soft texture and never got hard. I was too lazy to sift the flour...don't know if that made any difference at all. They still looked adorable and tasted great.

Rich Chocolate Frosting
Turns out perfectly! I had to cut down the recipe quite a bit because it makes a ton! That was expected based on the amount of sugar involved though. I particularly liked this when I used it to frost some brownies topped with peanut butter then this frosting. Delicious!

Roquefort Pear Salad
This is delicious. I have made this many times and even my non-salad eating husband likes it for dinner! I really love the vinegarette!!!
