Filipino Lumpia
I had a neighbor when I was a kid who used to make lumpia and send over platefuls, so when I found this recipe I got very excited. They were relatively easy to make and tasted great. I used wonton wrappers (as used by other reviewers) since they were easy to find in my local market. The resulting smaller size was perfect for an appetizer. I got more than 45+ mini lumpias (maybe even more since I didn't count--the wonton package had 60 wrappers and only a small amount was left when I ran out of filling). I will certainly make these again.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
These are now my standard sugar cookies. They are simple to make and roll out nicely. If the dough gets soft after a few rollings, I pop it back in the fridge to cool off and firm up. My 4 year old likes to help with the cookie cutters. He then transfers the cutouts to the cookie sheets without them tearing or falling apart. I made these for a cookie decorating party last summer for the neighborhood kids and the Moms all asked for the recipe. For the party, I made the a whole batch of these cookies in about five different shapes and gave each child three mini dixie cups of colored buttercream icing and plastic knives. Then there were lots of other shared toppings--red hots, m&ms, sprinkles, etc.

Elegant Oyster Soup
Fantastic. My husband made this for our New Year's dinner and we couldn't get enough. Now he wants it for his birthday dinner, too.
