BBQ Chicken Pizza I

Use less sugar if you don't want a really sweet sauce. DO keep the molasses and honey! Use "Pizza dough I" from allrecipes too!

Layered Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
Great peppermint bark, I made EXACTLY per recipe. NEXT TIME I will do this: 1) Omit cream from chocolate, it makes it too soft and melts on hands too easily. 2) Melt ALL of the white chocolate at one time and spread on sheet, layer with 1/4 crushed candy 3) Spread all of the semisweet chocolate on top of chilled white chocolate, the semisweet chocolate has a strong flavor, so make the top layer of the semisweet chocolate thinner than the white chocolate ( I was temped to use equal parts chocolate just because I had the semisweet chips left). 4) Sprinkle with the rest of the crushed peppermint candy. Like I said, I tried the exact recipe and the semisweet chocolate didn't ever set up correctly.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Excellent recipe. Out of habit I add yeast, warm water and sugar to bosch for 5 minutes while I gather other ingredients. Then I add oil and salt and mix in one cup of flour at a time until enough flour is added (usually 2 and 3/4Cup). Make sure the middle of the pizza dough is pretty thin and the edges can be thicker. I have made several times and it has always turned out perfect. I usually make one pizza crust and 6 bread sticks. Thanks for the great recipe!

Awesome Italian Bread. The exterior is perfectly crunchy and the inside is sponge-like and soft. Great crusty Italian bread.

This is the BEST fresh bean dip/appetizer ever! Used chickpeas instead of black-eyed peas. Used the juice of one lime. EXCELLENT.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Its just O.K. I don't really love pineapple and coconut in my carrot cake, but thought I should branch out because of this recipes high rating. Not one of my guests loved it. I make it EXACTLY as called for. It was fine, just not excellent. I do prefer more carrot and spice though.

Poppy Seed Onion Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
To make without a bread machine: Put yeast and warm water in mixer like Bosch or Kitchenaid, let sit 5 minutes or until frothy. Add brown sugar, butter softened, onion, onion powder, dried milk, sale, poppy seed, and pepper in order. Lightly mix for 15 seconds. Add flour until it pulls away from the sides of the mixer and the walls of the bowl are clean from any dough or flour. (about 2 1/2- 3 1/2 cups) Let knead for 10-12 minutes. Put in a lightly greased bowl and turn to coat all of the ball of bread. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size. Punch down and form into loaves (or braid and place on greased baking sheet) and let rise again for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes at 350.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
AWESOME recipe! Try this: Instead of 1 1/2 cup broth use: 1 Cup broth, 1 Cup of diced tomato with juice (I used my own bottled tomatos). My first time eating quinoa, this will be a regular dish at my house. Try with "Authentic Mexican Tortillas" from Allrecipes. A perfect and easy dinner.

Crab Stuffed Flounder

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
Easy, Quick, and Flavorful! I added a pinch of garlic powder to the crab mixture and substituted red bell pepper for green, it made nice color. You can use any type of cracker as well. I didn't have saltine so I used a butter cracker, like ritz. I will make again. Looks very nice, would be a good meal with company.

Quick Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

Make recipe exactly as is. This is a cake bread, or "quick bread." It is excellent and was the hit dessert at a BBQ! I did a glaze of 1 1/2 T Orange juice, 1 1/2 tsp. Lemon juice and powdered sugar. Pour over while bread is still warm. Let cool and cut into slices and serve. Make this recipe!!!

Pretty good cookie. I followed the recommended changes with 4 eggs, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder, and added allspice. I did half of the recipe with the added spice and half without, the half with was WAY better! Thanks for a good recipe!

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
Excellent flavor! Very similar to a curry sauce, but with potato base. I did not have curry paste, so as others have recommended I substituted 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tbsp curry powder. I love ginger so the fresh ginger is a MUST. You can really taste the difference. I cooked my potatoes in the broth and my ginger and onion in a separate pan. I added the spices to the onion and ginger and then combined into the broth when the potatoes were tender. Puree in blender and WA-LA! Puree 1 bunch of cilantro with 1/4 cup lime juice and use as a topping. Or just sprinkle with cilantro and a lime wedge.
