After 14 years of living on my own, I decided it's time to learn how to make more than instant mac & cheese and spaghetti. Eating out two-three time a week, while convenient, was taking a big chunk out of my budget! So my resolution for 2008 was to change my habits.
I stumbled across this site early on, and it's made my cooking experience a blast!! I love the reviews, which have really helped me to choose recipes that fit my experience and my tastebuds. January is almost over, but this is a resolution that's going to be so easy to keep!
My cooking tragedies
I got up early one morning to throw chili ingredients in the slow cooker. The night before, I had drained the beans and diced tomatoes, chopped the onion, and pulled out all of the spices I needed so the next morning all I'd have to do would be to brown the meat. After a long day at work, I cam home to the wonderful smelling chili, but I noticed the color was a little darker than usual. After the first bite, I knew why! The recipe called for 1/2 TSP of spices, but in my early-morning, pre-coffee daze, I had pulled out the 1/2 TBSP!! I like spicy food, but that chili was insane!!!
