I was in Junior High when my Mom started working full time, and our family decided everyone would take a turn preparing the evening meal. This worked out perfect, since there were five of us kids, mom and dad so that covered the whole week. Problem: my youngest brother was only 8, and in 3rd grade. So, as the big sister, I loved helping the younger kids plan and make their meals. We used to vote on the quality of the meals, you got extra points for making dessert, and could earn up to $1 for your efforts (minimum 35 cents). I got my stepkids to start cooking full family meals when they were in Junior High, and they are both happy and adventurous in the kitchen. In fact, they introduced me to this website, and I have found many great new recipes.
