I am married to a wonderful man who absolutely loves to eat and is so appreciative to have a wife at home that loves to cook. I also have a three year old son who my husband claims has "cut into his rations" since he has joined us at the dinner table!! It is quite comical to see them teasing each other across the table over who is going to eat what...I guess I must be doing something right because I get no complaints! My only complaint is that now my husband hates to go out to dinner because he says my cooking is much better than anything he ever orders!!
My favorite things to cook
I would have to say any dessert dish because it is the most gratifying!! We eat really healthy all week long so when Sunday comes, my guys can't wait to have a special treat...pies, cookies, cakes, or whoopie pies. They are all so delicious! I also hate to make treats that are "healthy"...if you are going to eat dessert then splurge!! It just doesnt taste the same without the fat and sugar!! You just have to be more careful and exercise more the next day!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know if I have really developed any of my own traditions yet but I remember my nana's blue cheese ball at family gatherings and she always made homemade strawberry shortcake for all our birthdays.
My cooking triumphs
I made a double layer chocolate cake with Kahlua Ganache filling and peanut butter frosting that was amazing!! I got the recipe from my mom (who taught me how to cook!) and it was absolutely sinful! I am a massage therapist and I gave each of my clients a piece to take home after their massage. They all called me back to tell me it was the best cake they had ever eaten!!! How can you beat a massage and chocolate??!!
My cooking tragedies
I have had a few pie tragedies...burnt crusts, caved in apple pies and one time a big pile of white goo at the bottom which I later determined was corn starch!! I have redeemed myself with a few amazing creations though...my blackberry pie with hearts cut out was beautiful and tasty!
