Amazingly, I found a love for cooking while living in a tiny one-bedroom apartment with my husband, cooking in the most unfunctional, inefficiently small kitchen in the world! I credit Rachel Ray's "30-Minute Meals" program on the Food Network. The more I watched her show, the more I learned and became more and more interested in challenging myself in making a tasty dinner. There's nothing better than my husband's approval of something I just made for the first time! I also credit allrecipes.com. If it wasn't for this great site, I wouldn't have made even a fraction of the awesome dishes that I have.
My favorite things to cook
Yummy salads with homemade dressing, chicken dishes, chinese food. I love to find a recipe that takes something simple (like salad or chicken) and makes it unique and extraordinary. I want to learn more about how certain flavors blend together to make something taste even better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My heritage is Norwegian and Swedish, so I want to start learning how to make Krumkake and other Norwegian food. I want to be able to teach my children (one day) to cook and pass these recipes to them. Also, my husband and I are establishing our holiday meal traditions, which I'll be even more excited to perfect in the coming holidays!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking pork without killing me and my husband, cleaning chicken (yuck!), trying new things, impressing my entire family and husband with my cooking.
My cooking tragedies
Not all my meals have turned out, that's for sure! It's crazy how you can make something perfectly, and the next time it doesn't turn out at all. But I learn from my failures (and mistakes) and take notes so the next time I make the recipe I will remember what to do differently.
