Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Watch out for to much red pepper. I'm from Texas and we love spicy food but this recipe does pack some heat. I prepared it for gusests and I coud tell it was to spicy for one of them but the rest of us loved it. Maybe use half and add to it as you cook. (?) I did use fresh jumbo shrimp and cooked them til pink, adding to sauce at at the very end...don't want to eat dry shrimp...its like dry chicken. No buneo. Also...we added fresh mushrooms to the sauce and it was awesome. Didn't have the crushed tomatoes or linguini so I used tomatoe sauce and bowie pasta and it was delish!

Tarragon Mushroom Chicken

@ I hate cooking: Due to your review I doubled chicken broth and had more than needed, which was great since we had mashed potatoes with it. I'd suggest dong that next time. ? We used frozen chicken breasts but I don't know if that makes a difference. =)

I'm giving it a 5 because it was so easy and everyone in my home loved it. What a simple way to incorporate all New Years food. I don't even like cabbage but this was delcious..I didn't even taste it. I used 1 lb. boneless ham steak (cubed)and canned beans.I'm making this again tonight since we have a cold front coming in. Thank you for sharing!

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Delish! Simple. I'm giving it a 5! Seems so many people made modifications, I just took several ideas from the top 4 reviews. Boil chicken in broth...do not drain...cut and set aside. Used only cream of chicken soup and doubled amount since I added plenty of fresh organic carrots, onions and celery. Also added 1/2 cup of white wine. Add spices you like such as salt, pepper and garlic powder and a dab of butter. Cook your veggies 45 min then throw in chicken the last 10 minutes when you're doing your buscuits. prevents chicken from drying out. This is so good I'm half tempted to eat another bowl. Yum yum...this is a keep and I'm thrilled to have found it! Thank you so much for submitting this.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
DA BOMB!!!!! So easy...your husband could make it. Meat is very tender and easily shreds with 2 forks. My husband raved about this one. I have made it once a week for the past month. I used a spicy honey BBQ sauce and it was delicious. Its even better the next day! Followed recipe exactly...very pleased! served with potato salad, wheat buns and sliced pickles n onions. Good stuff!

Sausage Pepper Skillet

This is super easy and very lean. I did add some rotel as suggested by another reviewer. It not only complimented the meal...it added more color which gave it a nicer presentation. My hubby liked this too which is good since his trying to trim down. I'll make this again and would recommend it to a friend.=)Thank you!!!!

Cheesy Sliced Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Made this Christmas Eve and it was good but could be better. I always prepare recipes exactly as suggested by submitter but I found a little room for improvement. You may want to add some butter, real bacon bits, some chopped green onions, fresh cracked pepper. I think it would add to the flavor and increase presentation appeal by adding color. I'll try it that way next time. Don't get me wrong..this recipe was good..but I think it could be better.=)

No modifications needed what-so-ever!!!! Followed recipe exactly and it was sinfully delicious! I made a test loaf first since i decided to give this to the neighbors as a holiday treat. OMG...it could not have been better. i did take it out of then oven 2 minutes early cause I couldn't wait to eat it. It made the house smell sooooo good upstairs and down while baking. banana bred is wonderful hot out of the oven but its even more 'banana-y" the following day. C'mon tomorrow!!!!

Broccoli Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
if you love cheese...you will love this recipe. i did as others suggested and doubled the rice..the consistency was perfect, not runny at all. I made this for my husbands office party and everyone raved and even sent text messages telling me how delicious it was. I also made it for Thanksgiving and the chef in our family requested this recipe. Great for any holiday or a simple dinner. Don't worry bout using the processed cheese sauce ...not cheese whizzy at all. I used the generic W*lMart brand and this could not have been better. Be careful not to overcook the bacon.

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
SINFULLY DELICIOUS! This was absolutely wonderful. Good enough to come from a restaurant kitchen and presentation was nice to...but you have to add the parsley. The portebellos were devine. This recipe is great for company...special occasions...and left over! I added the cayenne pepper last (which added more color to the dish) since I love spicy and my 1 yr old doesn't. this is so good you could actually get awy with using low-fat half n half in place of the heavy cream. BTW...I used the huge fresh shrimp from the seafood section at the grocery store...even better for presentation. Make this ...you won't be sorry!=)

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This was much better than I expected. It only took about 45 minutes from start to finish and tasted like it had been in the crock pot all day. The soup is very thick and hearty. I added carrots to the mix and it was yummy. My husband loved it too...asked me how many tubs of butter I used in the recipe....ONLY 3 tablespoons! It was that good. It tastes so rich but its really not. The ham really sets it off...next time I will probably double the amount of ham. So good...must try. Great for a rainy day or comfort food!=)

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This is good. It is very easy and theres plenty of time for clean up while it is cooking....which is a bonus. recipe called for 3 cups of milk...I only used 2 and still had way more than enough gravey. This is a good recipe for kids and husbands/boyfriends. i would NOT reccommend preparing this for company becaue the gravy doesn't look as good as it tastes.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
awesome...homestyle Southerm cookin! I've made this twice adn the most important thing you need to do is....use seasoned bread crumbs!!! The first time I made this it was spectacular...the 2nd was not and it was the bread crumbs. we used Italian ...but there are others, just don't use plain. Also...mushrooms are a bonus! Onions and mushrooms just go together very well, esp over hamburger steak. Men love this...well mine did. I loved it and my husband asks me to me it once a week.

Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
A bit disappointed. Maybe I was expecting to much...considering how time consuming it was. The sauce was very tasty, but it took far to much time waiting for half of it to boil down. My husband loves steak...and whiskey too...but this recipe was not a winner. He said..."A good steak such as a filet (prepared correctly) should not be covered in a sauce." I have to agree. You would be better off buying a NY strip or cheaper steak to make this. This recipe is worth trying at least once. But savor the flavor of a tender filet and don't waste it by covering it up with a heavy sauce.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
Effortless and very tasty. Instead of olive oil I used 2 tablespoons of butter as another reviewer suggested. This was not greasy at all..read some complaints in reviews. We made this with alfredo sauce and pasta but I REALLY think it would be much better with a tomato based sauce. This chicken would be fabulous for a chicken parmesan dish (or chicken spaghetti)...just top with grated mozzerella/parmesan. We will definitley make this again but with a tomato sauce. It was so easy and allowed plenty of time for clean up while it was baking. I love that!!!!=)Thanx

Baked Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
it was good but was lacking flavor. It reminded me of a dish my mom made growing up..tomatoe sauce, green peppers, onion, garlic and chops. It needs a little something though...we added salt but I don't think I'll be making this one again. I served it over white rice and along side of steamed broccoli. Theres just to many scrumptious pork chop recipes out there these days! Personally...it was a nice change instead of regular ole mushroom chops, but my husband was not a big fan.
