About this Cook
My husband and I really enjoy cooking since we are out in the suburbs now. We love having dinner parties and gatherings at our home. He does the grilling and I do the the indoor, flavorful cooking! We are proud parents of a beautiful 6 month old son. I often alter recipes with lowfat alternantives since I'm trying to lose these last 4 pounds. All recipes is by far my favorite site! Oh my favorite substitue...instead of white cooking wine...PINOT GRIGIO!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Cordon Bleu and stuffed mushrooms. I got the chiken cordon bleu off of this site and I think it was voted #1 under ratings. GOTTA MAKE THAT ONE ESP IF YOU'RE EXPECTING COMPANY!!!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I really enjoy staying true to my roots and heritage . I feel a great since of pride when I make Cuban food...Ropa Vieja and black beans. I love cooking that for my friends. Its a way of letting them know who I am and sharing something personal with them. An extension of my love and appreciation.
My cooking triumphs
Hands down...its the CHICKEN CORDON BLEU I got off of this website. I hosted a large dinner party and ended up giving the recipe to everyone that evening. They wouldn't leave without it. Swiss cheese melting into white wine....succulent!
My cooking tragedies
Once I prepared a special bacon wrapped shrimp with teriayki glaze for my husband...and the shrimp was not cooked all the way through...he couldn't bring himself to eat it even after I cooked it longer. I researched preparation and cooking shrimp and soon realized that 4 minutes on the grill didn't pertain to those gi-normous shrimp imported from China. Guess we should really buy more things from the good ole USA!

Lucky New Year's Black-eyed Pea Stew
I'm giving it a 5 because it was so easy and everyone in my home loved it. What a simple way to incorporate all New Years food. I don't even like cabbage but this was delcious..I didn't even taste it. I used 1 lb. boneless ham steak (cubed)and canned beans.I'm making this again tonight since we have a cold front coming in. Thank you for sharing!

Chicken and Dumplings III
Delish! Simple. I'm giving it a 5! Seems so many people made modifications, I just took several ideas from the top 4 reviews. Boil chicken in broth...do not drain...cut and set aside. Used only cream of chicken soup and doubled amount since I added plenty of fresh organic carrots, onions and celery. Also added 1/2 cup of white wine. Add spices you like such as salt, pepper and garlic powder and a dab of butter. Cook your veggies 45 min then throw in chicken the last 10 minutes when you're doing your buscuits. prevents chicken from drying out. This is so good I'm half tempted to eat another bowl. Yum yum...this is a keep and I'm thrilled to have found it! Thank you so much for submitting this.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
DA BOMB!!!!! So easy...your husband could make it. Meat is very tender and easily shreds with 2 forks. My husband raved about this one. I have made it once a week for the past month. I used a spicy honey BBQ sauce and it was delicious. Its even better the next day! Followed recipe exactly...very pleased! served with potato salad, wheat buns and sliced pickles n onions. Good stuff!
