About this Cook
My name is Melissa, and I'm a 24 year old mom that has been married for 4 years. I LOVE to cook! My husband usually loves everything I cook, but my girls are a little more picky. I guess they're allowed to be picky since they're only one and two years old.
My favorite things to cook
I'm pescetarian, which basically means that other than eating fish, I'm a vegetarian. I love to cook healthy, fresh, and simple things. I'm kind of poor right now, so I take whatever food I can get and make the best of it, but when I have a little more money for cooking, I love to shop at farmer's markets and use organic vegetables and fruits in my cooking. I make a lot of soups, roasted vegetables, and fish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in GA, so most of the family recipes are way too fatty for my taste. They fry almost everything, and usually eat meat at every meal. I used to love that type of food, but then I gained too much weight and built up an intolerance to meat and most dairy, so now I eat healthier.

Carla's Baked Bananas
These are a great dessert if you need something fast and delicious. The only recommendation I have is to maybe half (or even quarter) the recipe (unless you have a LOT of company over) because it doesn't keep well AT ALL.

Avocado Quick Bread
These were much better than I expected. I made half the batter into a loaf, and the other half into cupcakes and topped with cream cheese icing. Even people who aren't very vegetable-friendly loved them! I prefer it in loaf form, but for company, the cupcakes were perfect.

Nutty Stuffed Mushrooms
I added a little too much cayenne, but overall, the mushrooms were very good.
