As of Jan. 2008, I've been married 35 years. I have 2 children, & 3 grandchildren. My profession is cosmetology, which I love (I have a home salon). Since I work at home I have a little more time to cook than many working family cooks. Gardening is also a favored hobby, especially herbs.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook simple foods. I don't like heavy sauces or recipes which include processed foods. I avoid recipes that include cans of soup, or packaged mixes, as I prefer fresh ingredients & herbs. Most of my family's diet is vegetarian, but I include small amounts of meat when a recipe is worthy (Mostly fish & chicken).
My cooking triumphs
As the owner of a small business, each year I host a customer appreciation dinner for my clients. I do all of the cooking myself, as I want this to truely show my appreciation for the support of these wonderful people I consider my friends as well as clients. All these years my dinners have been met with rave reviews. There is nothing that compares to seeing people you love, enjoying the food that you lovingly prepare for them.
My cooking tragedies
Newly married, I didn't have much cooking experience, when my husband & I met another young couple who we decided to invited for dinner. To my embarrassment I didn't cook near enough food, and we were all still hungry at the end of the meal. We ended up rummaging through my cupboards for more food. I was teased mercilessly over the years by that couple who became our closest friends.
