About this Cook
I love to cook and am ALWAYS looking for new recipes. I practice martial arts and living a healthy lifestyle goes along with that. I love to hang out at home and there you'll find me in the kitchen or watching a good movie with my boyfriend, 3 cats, and a dog. We don't have cable tv and I really miss food network but life is a lot simpler without it. We do pull out the "rabbit ears" to watch Giants football...superbowl Champs 2008!!!! I knit during the winter and surf during the summer. What more can I say.....I enjoy life and love to spend quality time with the ones I love, especially hanging out in the kitchen. ;)
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook seasonally...we were meant to eat that way so I try my hardest to keep it that way. Some of our favorites recipes include chicken-bacon shish kabobs (allrecipes),Chicken strips with blue cheese dressing (cookinglight), Greens with Roasted Corn and Pepper Salsa (cookinglight), Rogan Josh (random cookbook), Award winning Chili (allrecipes), buttery rolls (allrecipes).......the list goes on and on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
getting together with the family for the holidays and spending all day in the kitchen with my Grandma.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Thanksgiving Dinner, when I was 22, for my boyfriend and his family....including home-made bread. :)
My cooking tragedies
While mixing the sugar and cream cheese for an oreo cheesecake I leaned the mixing on the mixing bowl and the whole thing toppled over and hit the floor. Leaving a gooey, sticky mess all over the floor. It felt like it was sticky for days even after a good scrub down. Worse of all we couldn't get the dog to stop licking the floor.

Spiced Sweet Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
This was my first time making hummus and it turned out great. I did roast my own peppers and I also added some olive oil for a smoother texture. Not sure is olive oil is traditionally in hummus but it wonderful.

Maple Roast Turkey and Gravy
Last year was my first time cooking for thanksgiving and I wanted to try something different since my familys turkey always seemed a little dry....boy was everyone impressed this year. We loved this recipe and the gravy was phenomenal! I'm so happy I took a chance and tried this recipe. This is going to be our classic thanksgiving turkey from now on. Thanks for sharing!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs
Absolutely wonderful! The only change I made was to use turkey bacon which came out great. I also put the chicken-bacon wraps on separate skewers and added red pepper chunks with the veggies. It might be a little work but try this recipe...you won't be disappointed.
