I am a single christian mother whose kids are pretty much grown. Got one left that is almost 18. I work for a retailer as a price changer, volunteer with AWANA and cook out of necessity.
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti, which leads into spaghetti bake the next day. All with garlic bread and salad and ice cream sundaes for dessert. Our all time favorite meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grew up knowing by the day of the week, what dinner was going to be. It never seemed to change until I left home!! Dinner was at 5pm every night and you were expected to be there, no questions asked. Work was the only thing to get you out of family dinner. It should be the standard today as well. Too many families dont take the time to sit down and have dinner and conversation with each other. Lives are too busy, there is too much other stuff to do out there. Its very sad and though I strayed from this in my famiy, we strive to have more dinner nights together than not.
My cooking triumphs
All my cooking. I was horrible when I first started out. I had to cook as my mother was working when my dad was injured at work. I was the oldest and had to make dinner. Its a wonder any of us survived. My meat loaf was to die of, instead of for!!! Now, I can make meat loaf and people will eat it and request it!!! That is triumph I tell you.
My cooking tragedies
Meat loaf, need I say more?
