I am a married, full time student living in a cozy little apartment in Toronto, Ontario. I am specializing in Internation Development Studies, so I hope to do my share in changing the world and experience as much of the world and all the wonderful cultures in it as possible.
I became a vegetarian in October, 08 and recently my husband has hopped on board as of January 09, so this expected challenge has become a very exciting challenge allowing me to get extra creative with food.
I am always learning more about nutritional needs so I enjoy challenging myself to make the healthiest meals I can; trying to include all the necessary nutrients, especially because we are vegetarian.
My favorite things to cook
My favourite things to cook are anything vegetarian. I also enjoy cooking Asian meals, mostly Thai and Japanese. My favourite meal to cook is a recipe I made up, and have yet to add to Allrecipes.com It is our favoruite meal and is the only meal I cook more than once, but I constantly switch up the ingrediants and spices so it never gets old.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't think we have any family cooking traditions to be honest. My parents didn't cook any family traditional meals to be passed down..
My cooking triumphs
You would have to ask my husband that. But I do manage to impress him with every meal. I hardly ever cook the same meal twice, I am always improvising, adjusting, or being creative with whatever we have or whatever I am hungry for.
If I had to pick. I would say my wedding cake (cake not icing), and our favourite vegetarian meal that I have not been able to name yet.
My cooking tragedies
tried baking some blueberry square thing that I found on this site, and totally ruined the whole thing and I was looking forward to it so badly. The whole top burnt to a crisp because it was made from a brown sugar crumble mixture, and the oven only had its top element on, not both (very bad stove) and the rest of the square was completely raw.
Second tragedy: My wedding cake icing job. I had to get my grandma to ifnish it for me because I was ready to throw it in the lake.
