My cooking tragedies
I love baking and cake decorating, so thought I would take things up a notch and finally try making fondant. I was making a pirate cake for my friend's son's birthday and had 2 hours left until the party started. The cake was great. The fondant was a peachy, sticky, greasy mess - gross! I had no alternative, I used it. The kids ate the cake, but I was sure to serve it before the adults could get a glimpse of the whole thing :)

Chocolate Cupcakes
Just made these. I couldn't stop myself from licking the mixing bowl after they were in the oven! I usually have more self-control, but the flavor was incredibly chocolaty without being super-sweet (like found in most chocolate cupcakes). DELICIOUS! I thought these would be winners for sure...until they came out of the oven :( The incredible flavor was still there, but the texture was odd. Moist but a little clumpy. I followed other reviewers' advice and used half & half instead of milk, 3/4 teaspoons of baking soda, and 1.5 teaspoons of baking powder. BAD IDEA. Next time I'll follow the recipe exactly and hope for better results :) FYI, all was not lost! Still awesome with a tall glass of milk.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant
I followed the directions PERFECTLY (this was my first time making fondant and I did not want to make a mess of it), yet somehow it ended up greasy. I added more confectioner's sugar, but couldn't get that matte finish. Nothing worked :( I'm not sure how I could improve upon this recipe, so next time I'll be trying a different one.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
So good! Next time I'll have to use less sugar though, these are a bit too sweet for my taste! Also, I might try making them smaller - can't devour a whole one of these at once! Otherwise, great! Love the crispy & chewiness of the outer crusts. :)
