I have 3 kids six, three, and almost one. Even though I feel like pulling my hair out at times they are an absolute joy! I have a wonderful husband who loves to eat anything I make. I love how he takes such an interest in what I can do with food. With his family's canning and venison recipe and my Indian background we have tons of fun in the kitchen! We train our kids to also have interesting taste buds. We try to grow a variety of things to freeze, can, cook, and of course eat! It is definitely, in our opinion, an ideal way to raise a healthy family.
My favorite things to cook
Everything! But I love to make appetizers. Hence, I love to entertain but do not get a chance to do it often.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving! You know the traditional foods with a flair. I love going all out!
My cooking triumphs
I'm not sure what I would qualify as a triumph. I get requests and compliments from friends and family for certain dishes. But I can say that once there was a woman(whom I'd never met) was passing by our house on her way to a neighbors. The kids said hi and she stopped and chatted with them for a minute. At one point she told the kids she had heard what a wonderful cook their mother was and that they were very lucky. It amazed me to have a complete stranger say that.
My cooking tragedies
Once when trying a new recipe, which I was really excited about, my son started complaining that something smelled really bad. I thought he was just complaining to complain. Well, I continued to cook and he made a mad dash to the bathroom and actually threw up! Now, he may be extrememly sensitive or just overreacting, but my husband (who didn't like the dish when he tried it)loves to tease me about the one really horrible dish I made that made our son throw up just from the smell!
