About this Cook
I am 23 with 3 kids. my 12yr old stepson, 2 yr old daughter and 9 month old son. I have been cooking since I was 9, and was employed as a cook for 2 years. My husband is a rig pig so I am home all day with the kids, so we cook alot! I love trying new recipes, and I like it even more when my recipes turn out! It is rare I hear complaints about my cooking. I figure cheese or chocolate (depending on the dish) will make everything good or better!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I make some awesome chocolate chip cookies, soft and chewy, always a hit. Anything in the slow cooker is great. I love throwing things together, turning it on and having a meal made by dinner time. And salads, Layered salad is a fav. I like putting ground flax seeds in everything from salads to cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always bring something to family get togethers, even if I was not asked to..... I am known for my Broccoli Cheese Puff, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and desserts.
My cooking triumphs
I am very proud of the Cheeseburger Cake I made. The Mushroom Chicken in White wine sauce.
My cooking tragedies
I have a tendancy to over cook chicken and pork, drying them terribly. BBQ-ing is not my forte. I burn it.

Apple Crumble Pie
I did a no-no and made my pie kinda differently. I didnt put the crumble on it, I put another crust on top. Other than that I followed the recipe closely. I mixed the apple with cinnamon, sugar and flour. I dotted with butter put the crust on top and baked it at 400 for about 25 minutes, turned down to 350 and baked for about 25 more. Excellent!

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly
I just made this today. FIRST WEAR GLOVES!!!!! I cannot stress enough, you HAVE to wear gloves. Maybe I got a really crazy batch of jalapenos, but my hands have burned for HOURS. Second, watch carefully and use a BIG pot. I only used a 4qt, and it boiled over. It is not easy to clean up syrup on a ceramic stovetop. Other than that, I followed to a T. Turned out great, looks fantastic with the specks of red and green. If you do happen to not use gloves, I found scrubbing your hands with a nail brush SUPER well, and with rather hot water for rinsing. After that, rub those owie fingers on stainless steel. YES, your sink, you spoons, your pots. It DOES work, at least for me...
