I'm a 63 year old widower who had to learn to cook for my wife of 40 years when she when was stricken ill with a terminal illness. Since then I have continued to learn to cook new things and to broaden my abilities. Cooking has become a hobby for me.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook anything that brings happiness to those for whom I'm cooking. I particularly enjoy grilling pork loin and supplementing it with fried rice and something green. I'm not much of a baker, but have made just a few things that were good. I also enjoy the slow cooker because of it's convenience and for it's tenderizing characteristics.
My cooking triumphs
I recently had friends over for dinner and made shrimp and cheese appetizers followed by a romaine/endive garden salad followed by the main meal of terriyaki grilled pork loin, sausage fried rice, lemon sauteed asparagus, and had zuchinni brownies with ice cream for dessert. It was a smashing success.
My cooking tragedies
I tried Christmas baking in December for my children's families. Some of the items turned out OK, but the nutty fingers were awful - doughy and heavy. They were practically inedible.
