About this Cook
I live on an Army base in Germany. The church is a big part of my life, and I love to bring dishes to the groups I'm involved in- it gives me an opportunity to try new things. I'm a Bible believing Christian. My faith in Christ has carried me through some rough times. I love my husband and I'm proud of him- he fought for 15 months in Iraq. We enjoy raising our toddler daughter. Germany is gorgeous! Spring time is here and the flowers are in bloom.
My favorite things to cook
I made a mean dark chocolate cake, yogurt made it delicious and so moist, with matching frosting. I like using red and green peppers, red onion, and fresh garlic in many of the main dishes I cook. I also enjoy making avacado mango salad.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cucumbers marinated in vinagar and red onion was a favorite in my household growing up. We also ate BLT sandwiches smeared with peanut butter. My father taught me to make baked beans with some brown sugar, mustard and ketchup.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph came one day when entertaining. I made pecan stuffed mushrooms, curried chicken salad, fruit salad, and deviled eggs! It was quite a spread. My biggest triumphs were cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time, and also when I made this delicious cheeseball made with bacon, chives and crusted with pecans.
My cooking tragedies
The only tragedy is being too afraid to make something in the first place. I love the sense of pride I feel after attempting a new dish- it's a feeling of ease that I can make it again!

Easy Tomato Sauce
This was a really good starter recipe. I gave it 4 stars because it needed more taste. I added fresh minced garlic, and mushrooms to the red onion in olive oil. I also added basil. The tomato paste tasted like a tin can but it did thicken it up. I ended up creating my own dish by cooking chicken in a separate pan and then allowing it to cook with the sauce. I added a little bit of sugar and parsley while simmering it. It needs a little more flavor. Buttering your spagetti noodles did the trick for me. Thanks for the starter recipe! It got me cooking this tasty dish.

Vegetarian's Delight Pizza
This recipe is just what I was looking for. I saute my veggies with a little olive oil and basil before adding them to the pizza. The veggies usually need a bit more cook time than the premade crust/ cheese, so that works for me!

Easy Orange Cream Slush
This is a good base recipe. I added a bit of vanilla, a banana, and some lime juice. I topped it with whipped cream. I got my "ice cream" fix. If you are out of ice cream this is a good alternative :)
