About this Cook
I raise 2 kids, 2 dogs, a cat, a husband & some chickens in California's Gold Country.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook "comfort" foods. I also love to bake. I love the cooler weather so I can keep the oven on all the time :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year around the holidays, I make the same stove top fudge recipe that I have been making since I was 6yrs old. The recipe was in a magazine that I got as a child. My family was so impressed that I made such a delicious treat that they have asked for it every year since. Also, On Christmas Eve, the lil one's & I are sure to make Gingerbread cookies to leave out for Santa. They do most of the work, I just put them in the oven. What fun they have. I take pictures of this every year.
My cooking triumphs
I was so excited the first time I ever made croissants. It was a long 3 day process but, they were so good!! Flaky & buttery.....they seemed to melt in my mouth.

Brown Chicken Stock
I had no chicken bones but, I had a left-over chicken on the carcass so, I used that instead. Mine did not turn out as well as the other reviews. The stocke never thickened & it was bland. I'll try again down the road & post my results when I do. There were many people who were very pleased with this recipe so, I must have done something wrong.

My Kid's Favorite Pork Chops
This was delicious!! I also used Montreal seasoning, Heineken & for sauce I used Kraft "Honey" BBQ Sauce and a red onion I had in the cupboard. My youngest child thought it was a bit peppery so maybe a touch less seasoning next time. I did not measure how much, I just sprinkled liberally. I stabbed the meat with a fork before I sprinkled, once seasoned, I rubbed the seasoning into the holes with the back of a spoon. My family is very used to me experimenting at meal time and they were all pleasantly suprised, even my picky teenager who hates pork gobbled this up.
