Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
I thought the butter turned out really good. BUT! I only used 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and NO white sugar at all. I also used a natuarlly sweet apple- Matsu. I also left the lid off the slow cooker the last 2 1/2 hours of cooking, so it would thicken more. I just finished making it yesterday, it usually gets better when it sits for a week or 2(I canned it.)

Apple Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
I gotta say, I am not a big cole slaw fan. BUT! This is really good! I did change a few things. On the apples I grated half and chopped half of each apple. Thought it would be too chunky. And I did not have any lemons in, so used a splash of apple cider vinegar. This was really good! I also used the last fresh cabbage out of garden, which does not hurt! ;)

Concord Grape Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
I just picked all the grapes off my grape vine, and made juice from all them. Then made batches of jelly using 3 to 4 cups of juice. You can cut the sugar down. Be sure to buy the pectin for low/no sugar recipes!

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
Love this crust! You do need to bake it longer though, I did 15 min. then added toppings then 20 min. I think I make my pizzas smaller with a thicker crust. }; >

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
Wow! After looking for a cobbler recipe for weeks, this one is a keeper. Very good, and like the cobblers from my childhood. The only thing I added was a 1/3 cup of chopped peacans to the peach mixture. Amazing!

Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
Very good recipe! I usually like a thinner tomatoe sauce with stuffed peppers, but it was good for a change! I also added a little more rice, I used 3/4 cup jasmine rice. Just a personal preferance. It makes it a little bit lighter for a summer dinner.

Zucchini Chocolate Orange Cake

Excellent! With soooo many zucchinis coming out of the garden it is nice to have a little chocolate for a change. This is the most beautiful cake batter I have ever made. Eating the raw batter was like Choc Mousse! Make this now!

Chiles Rellenos Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
I NEVER give 5 stars, but this deserved it! The only things I changed were using pepper jack cheese, and I had a little spicey sausage in the fridge. So I threw that in. Can you tell I like the heat! Serve with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole, and do not forget the Dos Equis!

Crisp Pickled Green Beans

These are great and easy. The only change I made was to add a few mustard seeds to the canning jars. Try these with martinis instead of an olive. Delish!

Scalloped Potatoes II

Perfect scalloped potatoes! Do not waste your time with those recipes calling for canned creamed soups. Way too much sodium in them, This recipe turns out perfect! Creamy, great flavor, and no layer of uncooked dry flour. Perfect!

Steaming time is more like 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I used the left over pork from the Pork But Roast with Vegetables (shredded) on this site mixed with a 1/2 can of green enchilada sauce. Really easy no fuss, and GOOD!
