Whew!!! What a year it has been!!!  Between moving, getting married, moving again and renovations to a "new" house it has been a very busy year for us.   I spent this weekend painting the living room and kitchen, and then going through photos so I can start hanging stuff on the walls.  Going… MORE

About this Cook
I live with my hubby and we share our house with our "furry" kids, 2 cats and a very lovable dog. We just got married in Sept of 2011 so its been a very busy year for us so far! And to top things all off we're in the middle of a renovation! Whew! I love to cook, it relaxes me and helps me focus, kinda like a good book! I love to make a mess but hate cleaning it up.
My favorite things to cook
Its always evolving and forever changing! I've found I have a knack for finding really great appetizers for special events and I'd rather cook than bake. I love pairing cheeses with wine and having people over to try them. Lately I've gotten into infused olive oils and LOVE them. Basil olive oil brushed on grilled pizza dough is wonderful!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother was from Germany and made some amazing dishes. The two I remember helping her with the most were her meat balls and German chocolate cake. I can't wait for my husband and I to start our own family and make some of our own traditions.
My cooking tragedies
Definitely have had my share!

Buckeyes I
These were really good! My husband and I were craving peanut butter and chocolate but I was out of eggs to make cookies so I made these instead. They are a little sweet for me but my husband LOVED them! The only change I made was adding 2 teaspoons of shortening to the melted chocolate. It made it smoother and easier to dip into. Next time I won't make them so big!! :)

Ranch Burgers
This recipe is really good however I did make some changes. Instead of saltines I used italian style bread crumbs and I added a bit of garlic, pepper and worcesteshire sauce to the meat mixture. These were fantastic. Nice and juicy! We will be making these again!

Easy Sugar Cookies
Of course I read the reviews AFTER I made these and saw that everyone else had the same issue I had with the butter. We ended up adding melted butter and they came out ok. I added red food coloring to a batch and green to the other batch to be festive. The next day they were pretty hard so I'm not sure if its the way I stored them, the extra butter or what. I may try another sugar cookie recipe next time.
