About this Cook
I'm a stay-at-home mom to three kids, ages 7, 5, and 2. I grew up with a mom who was a great cook and who loved hosting gatherings and entertaining. Since getting married and having children of my own, I've come to love cooking and baking. I enjoy trying new recipes and preparing meals (especially desserts) for our guests.
My favorite things to cook
I love, love, love to bake. I especially enjoy creating a beautiful presentation with desserts, whether it's the chocolate curls atop a birthday cake, homemade lemon ice served in hollowed-out lemon rinds, or a simple dusting of confectioner's sugar over a pound cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My girls love to cook with me. We all have matching polka-dotted aprons with our initials on the pockets! Whenever I'm cooking, my five year old daughter runs to the pantry, pulls out her stepstool, and joins me at the kitchen island in her apron!
My cooking triumphs
Anytime my family or friends enjoy something I've created, I consider it a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Hmm...there was that blueberry pie several years ago that was thick and glue-y...and there were the rolls I made for Christmas Eve dinner that didn't rise...and the charred bacon-wrapped appetizers at the New Year's Eve party... : ) But that's all part of the fun of trying new things and learning as you go.

Swiss Cashew Tossed Salad
LOVED this. Take the dressing up a notch: use red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, and red onion. Using bagged Romaine keeps it super-easy. Lots of requests for the recipe.

Easy Grape Salad
Oh, how simple, and oh, how delicious. The key to putting this over the top: TOAST those almonds! Pop 'em in the toaster oven or toss in a saute pan until golden brown; the taste intensifies and really makes this salad perfect. Yummy and simple and different and super-easy to make. This dish does not keep well, though--serve it within a few hours of making it; the sauce gets runny.

Southwestern Pasta Salad
This won rave reviews at our 4th of July gathering. Lots of requests for the recipe. Definitely better the next day, so plan on making it ahead, if you can. I made it exactly as the recipe states and it was delicious. Top individual servings with some diced avocado. Delicious!
