About this Cook
I'm an in-between-er. Just (a couple of years ago) finished college and working on figuring out which dream to follow. I love great food and strong drinks and try my best to enjoy as much of them as I can while staying within my means. I'm also into (as in possessed by) art, sewing, reading, camping, swimming, trashy reality TV shows, the ocean(although I live too far from it now) and, well, just lazing about. Oh did I forget to mention? Cheese is my chocolate!
My favorite things to cook
Enchiladas, hands down. They are deceptively easy to make from scratch and you gotta love their spicy, cheesy goodness.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Barbeque, steak & martini Christmas and of course pumpkin pie.
My cooking triumphs
The first meal I cooked for my boyfriend: broiled tilapia and twice baked potatoes. Not only did he go back for seconds, but I was amazed that I didn't burn the house down (see below) or poison him. I realized that maybe, just maybe, I really could become a good cook, which I have been working on ever since.
My cooking tragedies
When I was sixteen I left a pot of gravy on the stove to warm, went out to the garage for a chat with my dad and completely forgot about it. When I finally went back inside I couldn't see ten feet in front of me. We had to call the fire department to fan out my step-mother's house. Needless to say, this made me wary of any kitchen activities for quite a while.

Rocky Road Ice Cream
Man, is this tasty! I made it just as the recipe stated, with the exception of adding chocolate chips. I am also very happy that I decided to spring for the higher quality chocolate when I was making this (that could be a reason that some other people's was not chocolate-y enough). It turned out incredible--creamy and rich and incredible!!!

Penne with Chicken and Asparagus
I really enjoyed this. It is light and simple, but still filling. As far as specific tips and/or ingredients go, I am not sure because I had to stay at work late and my boyfriend made it...maybe that added to the taste? :)

Butternut Squash Soup
This soup is fantastic. I have craved it ever since the last time I made it about a month ago and plan to make it again this evening. I followed other reviewers suggestions to roast the squash first as well as to add apple and nutmeg while cutting the amount of cream cheese down to half a package. I also added ground ginger. Even though I made several changes, I am rating this at five stars because I think the addition of cream cheese is absolutely brilliant.
