I'm 18 years old and recently graduated from Beaverton High School, located in little Hicksville, USA (Beaverton, Michigan). I am currently enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, I leave for bootcamp July 20th and then off to wherever I'm stationed to serve my country. I really discovered my passion for cooking when I entered high school. I plan on attending a culinary school after graduation, I'm really hoping to get accepted into the Culinary Institute of America, but there are some smaller schools I have been looking at as well. Outside of cooking and school I really enjoy the outdoors and sports. I live a very active lifestyle consisting of hunting, fishing, going to the gym, and training for boxing and mma.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking all types of food. I am still a begginer though, I have 1 year of restaurant cooking experience, as well as a few years of experience cooking at home. I love many types of cuisine but my favorite are by far Asian and Italian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We aren't a family rich in cooking traditions. I am actually the first one in the family to really begin cooking. Sure there were always the usual holidays such as Thanksgiving, and Christmas, but there really are no cooking traditions with the family.
My cooking triumphs
Becoming head dinner cook at my previous job. For just starting out and being as young as I am compared to the other cooks who were available for the job it was a major thing for me to have gotten the job over them all. The first weekend of March me and a team of 3 other students from my culinary course participated at the Michigan Pro-Start Invational where we placed 13th out of 20 schools in the culinary competition. I will be returning next year and defanitley placing top 10! Hopefully I will have a few more triumps to add to my listing.
I RECENTLY WAS ACCEPTED TO SCHOOLCRAFT COLLEGE FOR THEIR CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM!!!
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies to list really. A few minor burns and scrapes here and there but nothing major to list yet. I'm sure there will be some in the future.
