About this Cook
My picture was is a picture of me drawn by my stepson when he was about 6. He's nine now, and I've been his stepmom for 8 years. I adore that kid. He can be overly emotional, quirky, and likes being weird, just like me. My husband is a wonderful man and scientist. I am a dreamer.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a baker. I love to find complicated recipes. I love making pizza and my boys love eating it. We toss pizza dough and laugh. It hasn't hit the ground yet. Bread baking comes to me in spurts. Sometimes it will be a couple times a week, sometimes only a couple times in a month. I love making cookies. There is just something fun about it, because you know how much they'll be loved by the people in your life.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family makes a spinach salad that is so good it will covert any salad eater to spinach. Christmas mornings are an egg, cheese, potato, and sausage casserole. I make rice crispy treats when it snows because they go so well with hot chocolate. My family has an absolutely killer stuffing recipe that is unlike anything else I've ever tried. It only gets made for holidays because it is too dangerous to have around the house.
My cooking triumphs
My pizza recipe that I've modified until my boys thinks it is perfection. Nothing makes them happier for dinner.
My cooking tragedies
My second valentine's day that I was married, I tried to grill ribs for my hub and they got burnt something terrible. I've never been so sad over something I've cooked.

Impossible Buttermilk Pie
This was a wonderful, custard pie. I didn't have buttermilk so I used regular milk that I let sit out for 30 minutes with a tablespoon of lemon. I didn't use the full amount of sugar. I probably used about 1 & 1/3 cup. I also used an extra tablespoon of baking mix to make certain it was nice and solid. I cooked it for 42 minutes and dusted with powered sugar and cinnamon. My husband wonders where I've been hiding this pie all our marriage. He was thrilled with it.

Lit'l Smokies(R) Mummy Dogs
I made these last year for halloween. They were a lot of work for something so small but they make a nice impact on your table. I took this general idea and make something similar with regular hot dogs year round. I take small biscuit dough and smoosh them down and wrap each hot dog with 1.5 biscuits. Then I just bake them according to the biscuit instructions. We call them biscuit dogs, and we love them. I started using biscuit dough instead of crescent rolls because they are less fat. My dss likes them better, go figure.

Chicken Stock
This is a wonderful stock. I'm so in love with it. It goes in all my recipes that need broth now. Chicken pot pie, chicken soup, chicken and dumplings, whatever. Whenever I don't have fresh ginger root, I'll just sprinkle the powdered stuff in and it still is wonderful.
