About this Cook
My name is Priscilla and Im originally from Los Angeles California. Im a mother of 3 and a wife for 11 years. I moved to Milwaukee in 2005 and I love it here. At some point I got a little homesick and decided to take it out on baking. So here I am...Baking!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking! Cookies have to be my fav.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A few days before Xmas I round up the kids and have a cookie baking frenzy. They love it! We make hundres of cookies to give away for Xmas!
My cooking triumphs
My first thanksgiving in Milwaukee, my husband, all of a sudden invite about 6 of his brother and wifes AND kids to Thanksgiving dinner! WOW! I had to go back to the kitchen and try to make dinner for almost 30 people!
My cooking tragedies
I was suppose to make a devils cake for work and it looked nice at home but by the time it got to work it looked like an earthquake had gone through it. I was sooo embaressed. I didnt even want to put it in the kitchen, since everyone knew I was a good baker.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
WOW! This is my first apple pie from scratch and let me say that its sooo easy! And cheap! Why buy store bought. Ok I did "some" obvious alterations after reading at least a hundred reviews. I made my "Basic Flaky Pie Crust" from this site (awesome btw) ahead of time. Had it all done for when my sauce was ready. I doubled my sauce because the I saw that it was too little. I used margarine instead of Butter because thats what I had and it was fine. I added 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, a tablespoon of mexican vanilla and a pinch of all spice to my sauce. I didnt have any nutmeg on hand or else I would've added that too. Baking time: I read that some peoples apples were still a little hard...what I did, instead of altering the baking time, I just cut my apples a little thinner and it came out fine. I didnt do the lattice pie top, I didnt want to mess it up since it was my first time. A full top works fine, just make sure to brush it with a beaten egg. Also, This pie should not be eaten right away! Wait till the next day or refrigerate for at least 6 hours. I couldnt wait and after it being cooled for just 2 hours, it was still very watery. By morning it was PERRFECT! Overall, I made this at night and when I woke up for breakfast it was half gone all ready...By noon it was TOTALLY GONE! Excellent Pie!
