Chess Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I should have read the reviews first; I followed the original directions and it came out looking like a waterbed. Definitely bake at 350 for 50 minutes and cover the outer crust, and definitely leave it in the oven after you turn it off.

Crab Quiche I

I used imitation crabmeat, and cheddar instead of swiss. This was so creamy and decadent, definitely a keeper.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

I've made these as gifts for the family for 3 years now. They're inexpensive and delicious! I add red sugar to the white sugar that coats the outsides for that holiday touch.

All Day Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
This worked well for me. The bottom burned but I left it in the full 5 hours, maybe less time would be better. Per other reviews, I didn't cook the noodles and they were perfect. I will use this recipe again, it's a good recipe when you have no meat and no time to cook.

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
My husband raved about this! I omitted the cinnamon, topped the cream cheese mixture with maraschino cherries, and drizzled chocolate syrup on top before serving. This one is a keeper.

Fantastic! I Usually don't like baked egg dishes but I really enjoyed this. I scaled it down for 2 servings and used a bread pan.

Bread Pudding II

I've made this before with bread and it was great. Ever have leftover waffles or pancakes, and you don't know what to do with them? I just made this with waffles. It works, and it's pretty good.

Easiest Egg Nog

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I had no idea it could be this easy and fast. After making it a few times, you can just eyeball and adjust to taste; you could practically make it in your sleep. This time in particular, I used 2 cans of evaporated milk, half a fifth of rum, six eggs, and plenty of sugar and spice. Thanks for sharing!

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I like this. I used a big springform instead of 2 small pans; my crust got a little burned on the bottom but that's my oven and my failure to use a water bath. Other than that, delicious. Upon realizing I only had 1 egg, I had to replace the other egg with a spoonful of mayo. Just in case anyone's curious, that works fine. :)

Egg-free Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
These are very good. They can be moist and good, you have to take them out while still a little glossy, and no the toothpick should not come out perfectly clean. If you wait till the whole top hardens and the toothpick comes out clean, they will be crumbly.

Ham and Corn Beignets

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
These were fantastic. They fry up quick and they taste great with cocktail sauce or maple syrup. I'm sure they're excellent when done exactly as directed, but I have to admit I used canned corn and 'lunchmeat' ham. STILL fabulous and completely foolproof.

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
These were delicious. I didn't boil the peppers first, and they cooked down just fine in the oven. I also didn't add spices to the filling...I just didn't think it needed any. I didn't have corn flakes so I coated them with crushed Fritos. Try it, it's good!

Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I love these. I used a hand mixer and let the batter stand for about 10 minutes. I've always cooked mine for only about 30 seconds to a minute on each side, I've never tried cooking for 5 minutes on each side so I'm not sure how that would work out. This is a great basic recipe, I got 8 picture perfect crepes and filled them with bananas and strawberry jelly cooked up in the same pan for about 3 minutes.

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
This is how French onion soup should be. No frills, just flavor. I actually threw mine in the crock pot for a few hours, it works! I topped with slices of French Baguettes, another recipe on this site, and mozzarella.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Delicious. I didn't think it could taste so good! I've never been super impressed with my homemade breads until this. I didn't use a machine, and I used all-purpose flour, and it still had the perfect soft chewy consistency. I know I rolled them too loosely, and this is why they flattened a little, but this is a fantastic simple recipe for perfect French bread. Thank you.
