Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Amazing with many compliments! 1/2 c rum was the max I'd use (they had some real kick!). They'd taste great with a little less too.

Butter Rich Spritz Butter Cookies

Better than the recipe that came with my cookie press, AND no crisco! My go to spritz recipe from now on.

White Bean 'n' Ham Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
A fantastic quick soup. I sauted the onion and carrot with a little garlic then put it in the crock pot with the rest of the ingredients. It was a warm satisfying meal for my family when we got home from our Christmas eve church service. Will make again!

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I have to give this at least 3 stars for its manageability- it iced and hardened beautifully on the sugar cookie! However, the flavor was like sweet crisco. Better but still not great after an extra teaspoon of vanilla and a little butter. I'll keep looking for a better recipe for next Christmas.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I followed another reviewer's sugestion of dividing the sugar among white, brown, and confectioners. The cookies needed 14-15 minutes to bake and still came out VERY soft, but they didn't lose their shape. My only complaint is that I prefer a more cookie-like kiss cookie (but who can complain with so few ingredients!).

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These cookies rolled out and cut very well, but the flavor could be better (That's even with the extra sugar and vanilla another reviewer suggested.). I found that rolling them closer to 1/4 inch made prettier cookies than the 1/2 inch, and they were still soft after baking!

Little Meat Loaves

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I made these last minute and only had ground turkey. I also used a little basil, rosemary, and oregano in place of the italian season, and 2 cloves of chopped garlic and salt and pepper in place of the garlic salt. Still- very yummy! My only complaint was that the texture was less meaty than we prefer (a littler mushy). I'd definitely make it again!

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I don't have a bread machine but followed someone else's post for making this bread with my Kitchenaid mixer and no machine...fantastic and very easy! Will definitely be making this again soon. >Update< I made this again the same way but replaced 1 cup of bread flour with whole wheat...not nearly as good.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Awesome recipe! I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 white flour and added a little cinnamon, a little vanilla, and fresh blueberries. You'd never have known they were wheat pancakes, because the seasoning was so good. Yum!

Baked Oatmeal II

I made this last year on Christmas morning, and the family loved it so much I'll be making it again this year. Not too crunchy or too soft. We ate it with milk in the bottom of our bowls. Yum!

This soup is fantastic and freezes very well. I only wish it ddn't call for bouillon since it has MSG in it...

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Just like the restaurant's recipe- definitely company worthy! I swap out the spinach for kale. It holds its texture and crunch rather than getting limp and soggy.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This was definitely an easy stew recipe but needed a couple of additions in the end to suit my taste. I added a splash of red wine and extra salt to taste. I still didn't find it to be anything special and will keep looking for a stew recipe to love.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

I made these cookies according to the recipe, and they came out a little bland and a bit too dense for us. I'll probably just use the Tollhouse recipe next time.

Banana Banana Bread

I realized after starting this bread that I was short on flour, so I added oats. It came out just fine! I would add some spice like other people did if I were to make it again.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
This pie has great flavor but wasn't as pretty as other pecan pies. It calls for chopped nuts, and they're mixed into the filling rather than being arranged so that they raise to the top like in other pies. This also affected the pie's texture. If I tried this pie again (which I probably will since it doesn't call for corn syrup), I would buy halves and lay them on the bottom and hope they rise to the top.
