I'm a graduate student in public health who is gastronomically adventurous. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do with my future husband.
My favorite things to cook
I especially love cooking Indian, Mediterranean, and Mexican. I've also fiddled around with cooking Eastern European, North African and Cuban food, although I'm certainly no expert. My favorite foods include anything with cheese, spinach, plantains, or salmon!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was really into casseroles and traditional Midwestern food. I grew up with a lot of pork and some awesome corn, which makes me super picky when it comes to both of these things.
My cooking triumphs
We've really come a long way with cooking Indian food. My fiance fixed some amazing brine turkey last Thanksgiving (I handled the stuffing). I think the most complicated and time consuming recipe I've made is tamales--they're super good, but it takes around 3 hours to prepare them.
My cooking tragedies
My fiance and I tried to make croquettes once from a recipe in a cookbook and failed miserably.
