Blue Cheese Dip II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Yum! This is exactly how I like my blue cheese dip. I used fresh parsley instead of dried, and garlic powder instead of garlic salt, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. We had this with fruit, veggies, and hot wings. Thanks for the recipe!

Simple Carnitas

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Excellent! I doubled this recipe and made it in my gigantic stock pot. The only thing I would recommend to salt lightweights (like me) is to add 1/2 at the beginning and then any additional salt to taste at the end. The broth is fantastic! I strained mine through a coffee filter and froze it to used instead of chicken broth for pork chili. Great recipe, thanks!

Dad's Steak Rub

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This is very good - I love all of the black pepper in it. I used the marinade on flat iron steak and cooked them on the Foreman grill. The syrup gets a little burny on the grill, so beware if you aren't using nonstick. Thanks for the recipe!

Perfect Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Yay! This recipe turned out perfectly for me (and I'm not the most experienced piemaker in the world). I used 1/2 Granny Smith and 1/2 Honey Crisp apples and really liked the way it turned out. Great consistency, not overly sweet, perfect with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Thanks for the recipe!

This was good. I upped all of the spices a little and topped this with chipotle-jack cheese. Yum. Thanks for the recipe!

Avocado Green Goddess Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
My husband liked this dressing alright, but I didn't care for it at all. Maybe using half sour cream like some of the reviewers did would help, but I just found it really salty, thick, and fishy-tasting as written. The avocado flavor is almost nonexistent. I tried adding more lemon and thinning it a little, but in the end I used another dressing on my salad and let my husband eat this one alone. Sorry! Thanks for letting me try it. :)

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This was good. A little boozy-tasting for me, even after cooking for a while, so I mellowed it with a little chicken broth at the end, and it turned out fine. My husband is a big Marsala fan and he really loved it. Thanks!

Yum! We loved this one. I was also cooking this recipe for a diabetic, so I used Splenda instead of sugar and it came out great. Thanks!

Italian Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Very good. I would definitely cube my pork next time, as it took a really long time to break down into manageable pieces. Also, you'll probably want to cook this uncovered for about half of the time to let the sauce reduce - it's quite watery if kept covered the entire time. Still, we enjoyed it with these changes, so I would likely make it again. Thanks for the recipe!

Basil Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Excellent, easy, light-tasting dressing. I found that it needed a little salt and pepper - and that it's twice as good the next day (which is true of most vinaigrettes, anyway). Thanks for the recipe!

Malaysian Beef Rendang

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
We really loved this. I followed this recipe as written except I made mine in a stockpot rather than the wok, which I think helped to cook it more evenly and keep it from sticking or burning. Loved the coconut and spices - will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Cheese Ravioli with Pumpkin Sage Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This is a really great idea. Not quite enough pumpkin or sage for me as written, so I added a little more of each. I think this recipe could be fantastic with a homemade Alfredo where there is more room for preference adjustments. I served my sauce over mushroom ravioli and added toasted pecans. Thanks for the recipe!
