Tarragon-Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
SOOOO good! My 1 yr old, 5 yr old, and husband loved it. I used leftover turkey meat from thanksgiving meal and turkey broth I'd made from the turkey carcass. Also I used cooked brown rice instead of barley. It tasted a little off in the end and it took a while to figure out what was missing... garlic powder made it PERFECT so next time I'll do crushed garlic with the onions and green peppers. Amazing! So good and so good for you!

Bratwurst Potato Skillet

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I was quite disappointed! The taste seemed very off to me. My 5yr old isn't picky and wouldn't eat it, my husband and I didn't like it. The potatoes were so crispy and good that I was eating them out of the skillet until I added the soy sauce and juice and spices. Then they became soggy and nasty. :( It looked so good and sounded so good but the only thing edible in the end was the brat pieces. I'm going to try to come up with some other spices/sauces for this. For now though it was a lot of wasted work and ingredients and I'm not sure what to do with the leftovers as we're on a budget.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
SO GOOD! I made muffins and one (larger than in the recipe) loaf of bread with this. Only thing I did was use 2 cups of sugar instead of 3. It did not need more!

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

I loved it. My husband said it was good but wouldn't eat the leftovers... not too surprising. My daughter wouldn't touch it because of how it looked. Lol.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
SO GOOD! I used fresh pumpkin that I baked and pureed. Only tip I have is that the glaze is super sugary and overpowers the flavor of the pumpkin and spices in the cookie. So I just drizzled very little on.

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
I donno. Maybe lasagna isn't for the slow cooker :( Mine was soupy in the middle and burnt on the edges and the noodles were unpalatably mushy and the sauce tasted burnt. Everyone ate it but now I want "real" lasagna. So sad.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

SO good! Too sugary for us but I'll just reduce the amount of sugar next time. I used canned peaches that I'd canned myself and drained them. It was awesome!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
SO easy, SO good! Used frozen chicken breasts, a little bit of chicken broth to replace some of the water, and a 15 oz can of biscuits. Cooked low for 6 hrs and turned up to high for 2 hours when I put in the biscuits and cut up the chicken (er.. helped it fall apart! Yum!) Added minced garlic, parsley, pepper, poultry seasoning. Would have added frozen mixed veggies and think that would have been yummiest but my husband wanted them on the side. I mixed them into my bowl:) Next time I'll use less cream soup and more broth as i don't mind a thinner broth and it will be more healthy. It did not taste too salty at all though which surprised me.

INCREDIBLE! Especially for the effort put into it. But everyone liked it better than any other pizza dough I've tried! Did cook it 5 min. before adding the toppings.

I disagree with using that much herbs in them... the flavor isn't that wonderful. I would stick with more simple like garlic, salt, pepper... YUM!

SO GOOD! About 2 T per pound of meat is about right for me. I didn't have crushed red pepper flakes so made it without and it was fine. Will try it with next time though.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Yum! And I don't like bar-b-que at all so. So, wouldn't call these bar-b-que. Very flavorful! My chops were super thin so baked em for 20 minutes total and they were perfectly done.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
SOOOO good! This is my favorite way to eat sweet potatoes and no, never really liked them before I tried this. My second favorite way is to just replace the paprika and other spices with cinnamon and follow this recipe otherwise. Do check them and turn them... might burn otherwise. YUM!!!

Classic Pear Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
Yum! Really versatile too... I had only a 9" round cake plate and a 1 1/2 qt casserole dish... didn't have any ginger.. and I added extra cinnamon and just a little bit of ground cloves. I cut up a few extra pears and made double the crumb topping... it worked well and was VERY yummy.
