New Addition to My Kitchen

So I finally got a Kitchen Aid mixer. It was a hard decision on the color, because now there are some really nice new and different colors to choose from. At first I thought about stainless, so it would match with my kitchen, but when I saw them at the store I just had to have a red one.
Now I just need to find a really good recipe to use my new mixer.

Congratulations! Isn't it funny how one color just calls out to you!? The thing you really need to make is something where you need to cream butter and sugar together. Amazing! And then make some bread with the dough hook. Be sure to order the Beater Blade from Amazon, too! It's totally worth the $30. Have fun!

Lovely color - enjoy using it!

Thanks! Marianne, I'm not sure if I will use for bread because I have a bread maxine, but what do you use the beater blade from Amazon for? It already came with 3 beaters.

Sorry, I meant a bread machine.

Try whipping cream in it! It takes seconds!

Very nice. Congrats. I've been pining for a Kitchenaid stand up mixer for awhile now. I would also like to know what a beater blade is?

You're gonna have fun! The red color is gorgeous! I love making cake batters with my mixer. Big batches of cookies are a breeze. Enjoy!

I'm envious! Mine is boring white. If I got to choose I'd pick the lime green one. Have fun!

LTH brought this to everyone's attention. It's called BeaterBlade+. It eliminates food buildup on sides and bottom of bowl. You don't have to stop and scrape down the sides. It's pretty much like the flat blade that comes with the KA except it has rubber around the edges. It costs about $28 or so. It's great!

Thanks for that tip Marianne, Fit, what are you going to mane her?

Jul. 31, 2009 2:10 pm
Sorry, name her?

Thanks Marianne! Avon Lady, I haven't thought about it, but I guess I need to name it.

Mine is the color called Licorice. SunnyB came up with my name: The Licorice Whip!

It's lovely. If I had one, I'd use it to whip cream, make flavored butters (like a fresh herb butter, or honey butter), mix up cakes ~ especially those with beaten egg whites ~....mmm, que bom!

Jealous here too. Still wishing for a KA and now a mandolin cutter/board or a food processor. I got a hand mixer last week!

Congrats! They are so nice! I have a white one that my parents gave me as a wedding present 10 years ago. Still goin' strong! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine - it practically does the work for you!

Take good care of her, she'll last a lifetime! I was given one as a wedding gift in the early 80's, emerald green and it was still going strong last Mother's Day when I finally got my buttercream yellow one I had been lusting after for years! I gave the old one away. My mixer was used regularly but totally abused at Christmas time! Now I can't wait to try the ice cream attachment I got. Have fun!!!

Awesome! I got a red one, although sometimes I wish I had gotten a different color. It's still a great machine. The only thing I don't like making in it is breads - it's so much easier and less messy to knead by hand, in my opinion.

Awesome! I am happy for you and your addition! Mine is green apple colored. I have had mine nearly a year, but I really want the robin egg blue or Martha Stewart blue one now! It is difficult to decide which color to buy isn't it? I have since bought the robin egg blue tea kettle, retri kitchen timer, so I really want the Kitchen-Aid that matches it.

The green apple color is very nice and I also love the Tiffany blue. I saw all these colors at Macy's. I was planning on keeping mine inside the cabinet, but is so heavy to move around. Now in on my counter, I have to find a better place for it.

Yes, the tiffany blue colored one is the one I want to get. It was my first choice and green apple was my second choice. They are heavy, aren't they? I keep mine on the counter. Have you been using your mixer a lot?

I have used my mixer a only for a couple times, but now that we are about to start fall I think I use it more. I love making special treats for the holidays. Why are you getting another mixer?

Hi, I wanted to say thanks for putting up a picture of my honey mustard recipe and thanks for the nice comments. Thanks, Jillena

Hi Jillena! Sorry but the person that reviewed and posted a picture of your recipe wasn't me, it was LuisvilleHugger. I just checked his profile and noticed that I'm listed as his favorite cook, maybe that's why you got confused.

About Me
I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 little boys. I love experimenting new recipes and I try to cook healthy for my family with all organic fruits and vegetables. I avoid all of the processed food, that's why I make pretty much everything from scratch. You can contact me at rmw2001@hotmail.com.
My favorite things to cook
We love seafood, I also love a nice gourmet salad recipe and I like to make my own salad dressing. We also love tex-mex and vegetarian dishes. I don't eat red meat and our kids are not big on it either, but once in a while I make a dish for my husband.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The holidays are very special for us. I really enjoy cooking on Thanksgiving and Christmas and the kids love to help.
My cooking triumphs
I make the best and healthier Chicken Pot Pie (also known as Pastelao or Empadao in South of Brazil). I also make a really good German Pie, which is my husband's favorite desert.
