About this Cook
I am a teenager living in rural Scotland, and I enjoy riding my horse, taking my dog for long walks, playing my piano and singing along and experimenting with recipies. If I find a recipie I think has something needing improving, I don't hesitate to improve it! I do that ALOT with the ones I take home from Hospitality classes at school! I'm currently taking a year out before Uni and am hopefully zipping off to Australia in January!
My favorite things to cook
My all time favorite recipy is chocolate brownies. I found a recipie for them in a child's cook-book when I was a small child and perfected it off-by-heart before I was 10! At the moment I'm going through a phase of chinese style fried chicked dishes. I will add the best of them when I get time!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My granny has always made clootie dumplings for birthdays in the family, and they have become the bit we all look forwards to most! She has taught me from the recipie she learned from her auntie as a child, and now I can make them ALMOST as well as her!
My cooking triumphs
My chocolate brownies have only once been topped (I didn't manage to try the offending brownies - I heared a friend's freind's mum who lived on the isle of Sky made an unbeatable brownie, coming from a friend who I don't think has tried mine...) and my chicken in a honney and orange sauce is gaining a reputation in my family. And I made a mean christmas dinner aged 13!
My cooking tragedies
I recently tried to make transparent puddings. A disaster! The butter and sugar wearn't creamed as well as I thought they were and so seperated whilst cooking. And I used raspberry jam because we didn't have apricot. I ended up with purple lumps of sweetened egg floating in butter. But they still tasted good!

Dog Biscuits I
RE claim garlic is bad for animals: Although garlic has been linked to causing anemia is dogs, this is only in extremely large doses. In small doses eg a clove or less (depending on size of dog), garlic is known to be beneficial in the control of ticks, fleas and worms.

Eggless Chocolate Cake II
Wonderful texture and very moist - it's the kind of cake that makes your teeth look black when you eat it! I took other's advice and greated 4 squares of dark chocolate into it (in a reduced recipe), but it still could have done with some more to give the flavour some oomph. I will definately make again!
