Proudly retired US Army, hence the name Kitchen Commander. Very sucessful professional B2B sales consultant. Sales manager & good friend likes to refer to me as his platoon sergeant because of my common sense solutions and candor in speaking with people. Very happily married to my wife of 25 years. Outstanding son who will soon graduate from University of Nevada. Have a very blessed life and am grateful for it.
My favorite things to cook
A lot of recipes that use bacon and onions. Bourbon cream sauce that I use on a variety of different meats. Rubbed Ribeye steaks. Marinated Ribeye steaks. Slow cooked baby back ribs that fall off the bone. Gourmet burgers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday has become my cooking day for the family. Been doing it for a about 2.5 years now. It's the day I try new things. Wife and son are never dissapointed.
My cooking triumphs
I created a recipe from scratch for twice baked potatoes. Everyone that's ever had them loves them. I don't measure the ingredients so I haven't posted it on here yet. I've got another recipe for a marinate that I love but I can't take full credit for. It's 1 bottle of Black Butte Porter beer, and equal amount of terriaki sauce and cajon seasoning. Marinate any beef in it for 24 hours and enjoy something great. My most recent and greatest creation thus far was done by studying seveal Carbonara recipes for ingredients and procedure. I used different ingredients from the various recipes, my own quantities and some ingredients on my own. I've done it for the family several times and for a few dinner party's. It got rave reviews from everyone. I submitted the recipe to allrecipes.com for posting but it's yet to be posted. I hope one day it will be posted, because it's absolutely delicious.
My cooking tragedies
To many to list. But none lately. I guess the worst ones are cooking on the grill and not paying close enough attention and coming back to find a flaming inferno of charred meat. Doesn't happen anymore. Got a new higher end grill and I use a timer if I need to step away from the grill so I don't loose track of the time.
