Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
It was ok. No real flavor. Everything was too mild, so you don't really taste the teriyaki, bacon, cheese, ranch dressing, or onions. Just kind of melds together. I won't bother to make it again. There are other recipes that pack more flavor that are just as easy.

Quick and Easy Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This is really great clam chowder. It's a little.. thick for my tastes, but I think next time I will just replace some of the cream with half and half. I did use 4 cans of the clams, and the clam flavor was great! Thanks for the recipe!

Martha's Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This is the closest thing my family has ever found to my grandmother's dressing. She always made it every Thanksgiving and Christmas, but she passed away suddenly a few years ago, and no one knew the recipe! We have tried to duplicate it several times before, and this is the closest we have tasted! I use the biscuits you buy in the freezer section, and just some dry cornbread dressing mix (not the way grandma made it, I'm sure) and it still reminds me of her every holiday. Thank you for this recipe!

Super Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I make this just as-is, and my family loves it! I brought it to a family Christmas one year, and even my grandfather (who doesn't like mushrooms) kept going back for more! Great recipe!

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Some of the best mac n' cheese I have ever tasted. I omitted the egg, did the 2 cups half and half, and added the ground mustard and cayenne pepper to the mix. I would have liked the consistancy better before baking - it was VERY creamy! But my husband prefers the cassarole-like consistancy of baking. Next time, I'll add some bacon to the mix - because everything is better with bacon! (Hey, no one said this recipe was healthy!)

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
These were SO amazing! My husband begs me to make these cookies! I actually make small cookies so they will go around - because EVERYONE can't wait to get their hands on these cookies! I really like the ginger flavor. It's not too strong, but it isn't weak like store bought cookies. The flavor kind of reminds me of the chewy ginger candies that you can find in airports. Wonderful!

Decadent Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I've never been a big peanut butter girl, but I chose this to make for an office Christmas party. I had to make a "test pie" before I would serve it to other people, and it was delicious! I made the second pie for the office, and when I brought it in the next day, I found it had actually gotten BETTER in the refridgerator overnight. I made it again for family Christmas dinner, and my whole family raved about what a great cook I am! This is a keeper! Every time I make it, I always feel the leftovers are the best! It's very rich, though, so only have a little piece!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I had some pork chops in the fridge that I had NO idea what I would do with them. I was tired of the old ketchup-on-top that I had grown up with, so I went looking for an easy recipe that I had all the ingredients for already. I will never make pork chops any other way! This is AMAZING! Tender pork chops, and the breading adds great flavor! I passed this recipe on to my mother, and once she made it for my father, he always asks for it!

Unbelievable Chicken

It was good... but it wasn't unbelievable. Will definitely make it again, though. Just doesn't quite live up to its name.

Pork Chile Rojo (Pulled Pork with Red Chile Sauce)

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
My husband and I love this recipe! I added a little cumin to the mix at the end, and also added some leftover canned black beans that I had in the refridgerator. It made plenty of food for the two of us. We had it as a soup the first night, with tortilla chips and some sour cream on top. We had it as taco's in some flour tortillas a couple nights later. I only cooked the pork in the slow cooker for the 6 hours, but next time I will cook it for 8 hours since the pork was a little tough to shred. Truly delicious! I love Mexican food, and this recipe was the best I've made in a while!

Berry Tiramisu Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
FANTASTIC! Used the "Glorious Sponge Cake" recipe from this site, and did the cream and berries as described here. Next time I make it, I will make sure my cream cheese is very soft. My cream was a little lumpy since I didn't take the cream cheese out of the fridge soon enough. Still tasted great, though! My family devoured it - having seconds and then thirds later that evening!

Glorious Sponge Cake

My family LOVED this cake! I made it for the 4th of July as a base for the "Berry Tiramisu Cake" on this site. We loved the cake so much, I'm making it again without the berries and everything on it! The lemon flavor is just right! Makes a light cake great for summer desserts!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I had this recipe picked out to make for dinner on the 3rd of July while I was making a few other recipes from the site. When I had bought the ingredients for this recipe, I was using the version posted here, which did not specify what kind of jalapenos to use.... so I bought a fresh jalapeno. Since the site was down on the 3rd, I was forced to find the recipe elsewhere - where it specified to use pickled jalapeno slices (the ones in the jar). I used the fresh jalapeno instead, and I wish I hadn't! Using the amount of fresh jalapeno in this recipe tastes fine, but it was NOT worth my burning eyes when I tried to take my contacts out later! I know I should have used food-grade gloves when chopping the jalapeno, but I didn't have any lying around. In the future, I will always use the jalapenos in a jar! Oh... and the recipe was delicious! I used more black beans than the recipe called for... just because we like them. I rolled in egg roll wrappers, and baked in a 425 degree oven until the egg rolls were golden and crispy - I think it was about 10 minutes. Also served with "Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce" which made a fantastic dipping sauce.

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

It was really tasty, except my husband and I both felt the cilantro flavor was way too strong. Next time I will use half a bunch.

Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
These were ok... they were very crumbly, but they tasted alright. The texture just isn't quite right for a cookie. But I suppose if your choices are this or no cookie, this is better than nothing! If anyone has found a way to make the texture a little better, please share!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
My husband does not like soup - but I love soup, so I still occasionally make it. This is the ONLY soup my husband will eat. We love it! I use 4 chicken breasts instead of three, and everything else I do exactly like the recipe. Wonderful!

Walnut Pumpkin Pie

AMAZING! This is the best pumpkin pie I have ever eaten. The ginger is a surprise ingredient. My mom doesn't care for pumpkin pie, but when I made it at Christmas time, she kept raving about how much she loved it!

Cheese Stuffed Mushroom Appetizer

Good, but my family found them WAY too rich. The filling was too creamy as well. I like a stiffer filling in my mushrooms. I will not make this again.

Spice Islands® Double Raspberry Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
I LOVE this recipe. It seemed daunting at first, but it's actually very simple. The frosting is a little too sweet. I think it's the jam. I'll use just thawed frozen raspberries in the frosting next time I make it.
