About this Cook
Well, I come from a large Sicilian family and never managed to learn how to cook! I was never really interested in it as a child. Then I met Vince, my fiancee. He can cook so well it's amazing! And when I met his mom she couldn't believe I didn't know how to cook. So she made it a rule in her house that if she was cooking and I was there, I better be in the kitchen to learn. And that's when I pretty much discovered I'm actually very good at cooking. People at work always ask me what I "have in the bag" when I bring something from home. :)
My favorite things to cook
I'm really good at baking, so I enjoy it the most. My mom taught me how to make her cheesecake that everyone always fawns over, so I guess that could be considered my signature recipe. I also enjoy making chicken dishes. I love chicken, I could eat it every day and not get sick of it! My fiancee is Mexican so we cook many traditional Mexican foods. (Tamales and empanadas to name just a couple.)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's cheesecake is amazing. People always tell me about the chills they get in their cheeks. Making tamales with my fiancee's family is a lot of fun. We start really early in the morning, have some drinks, watch some movies, make some tamales, and the eat some tamales!
My cooking triumphs
My mom's cheesecake and the pumpkin pie I made this year. I also make really good cream cheese stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in bacon. That is a yummy, low carb meal.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had any yet *knocks on wood*, but I am still pretty new to cooking, so I'm sure something like that will happen along the way.
