About this Cook
I am a nurse, and have worked in the same hospital for 30+ years. I am married with 3 nurse daughters, 2 son-in-laws and 4 grandchildren. I love to cook for a crowd.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes, and read recipe books like a novel. All Recipes is a wonderful website, and I have used many recipes from there. We love to grill, but I love an old fashioned potatoes and gravy meal, as well. Love to make different desserts, and cookies are a staple at our house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is Danish, and I have a great Danish bread I make at Christmas - my mother makes a wonderful suet pudding. I make Danish Aebleskevers for my grandkids - they love them. We eat all our meals at the table with the TV off, pray before meals, and talk to each other about our day.
My cooking triumphs
when I mastered good pie crust and bread!
My cooking tragedies
I have them all the time. I remember once when my kids were little, I spent hours on a cake with a cream cheese layer. It was beautiful, and expensive. We put it on the floor board of our car - and I stepped in it! (we ate it anyway).

Big-Batch Butterscotch Cookies
Well, I was unsure how to rate this. I bake a LOT of cookies, and when I was done mixing them I thought - these are no more that a chocolate chip cookie, without the chips. I added some crushed Werthers and pecans and then divided the batch and added mini semi sweet cho chips to one, butterscotch chips to another, and topped the third with mini milk cho kisses. They all came out nice, but would have been pretty dull without. I rolled them in 1/2 brown sugar/white sugar before baking. Makes a grand bunch of cookies. I also sprayed the cookie sheets due to the Werther candies. They tend to run and stick.

Waldorf Salad II
This was so good! I did toast the walnuts, that really added something. About 10 minutes in a 350 oven. I also added grapes and substituted honey for sugar. VERY YUMMY.

Strawberry Delight Dessert Pie
This was good - I used cheesecake pudding. I did put it in the freezer for about an hour before serving, easier to cut and the presentation was better.
