Me and my Hubby
About this Cook
My name is Mandie and I am 24 years old. My husband and I have just relocated to Springdale, AR from Ohio. I have been cooking a lot more since we moved out here. I recently changed my way of life and I am focusing on eating much healthier foods. I love my husband and our two dogs more than anything.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are tilapia, chicken and pork chops. I also love to make any kind of veggies! I do have a knack for deserts and party appetizers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Thanksgiving and Christmas my whole family gets together. When we are all together there is a total of about 50 people! We always have a roasted turkey for Thanksgiving and a roasted ham for Christmas. Each aunt and uncle brings their own special dish to the party. It is wonderful! When I was a kid, at Christmas time me and my cousin, Matt, would go over to Grandma's house and we would make cookies, chocolates, and hard tack candy. Those are the memories that make me miss home.
My cooking triumphs
Superbowl 2007- Colts Vs. Bears- I made a cheeseball shaped like a football, and covered it in chopped pecans and used pimentos for the laces! I made pull apart maple pecan sticky buns for a Christmas party and they are just gooey goodness, and always a fave for the hubby!
My cooking tragedies
Well, I forgot to add milk to hamburger helper once, and it was AWFUL! When I was 16, I made my husband (he was boyfriend then) a giant heartshaped snickerdoodle. I burned it and put so much cinnamon on top, it was all brown. He did not eat a single bite!!

Chicken Pepper Steak
O M G! This recipe was AWESOME!!! I loved it so much I ate it for lunch and dinner the next day too! I made a few modifications because of the other reviews complaining of the saltiness. To cut the saltiness I added some rice vinegar and some chili paste, and a little bit of splenda. I also (believe it or not) added some kerrygold sweet mustard sauce. It was so good! I also used red onions and used red and yellow bell peppers. This was amazing!! Thanks for the great post!

Barbecued Pork Chops
I thought this was pretty good. My hubby and I both agreed on a 4 star rating. I did make some small modifications. I used 1/2 C. aplle cider vinegar and the rest as white vinegar. I also added in a few ybsp. of bottled bbq at the advice of the other readers. I added some gar;ic and onion powder and a tbsp. of splenda to sweeten it up. I baked the chops in the oven for 30 minutes and pulled them out and thickened the sauce with some flour because the sauce was pretty runny. I used really thin chops, so they were a little more dry than I would have liked. All in all, I will make this again. Thanks for sharing :D

Apricot Round Steak
I really like the sauce a lot! I used chinese chili sauce instead of hot pepper sauce because that's what I had on hand. My husband and I really liked it :) Thanks for a great recipe :)
