About this Cook
Time to update the profile! I am now working on 64, still love to cook,& STILL miss my DH whom I lost in May of 2007, from esophageal cancer. We were married for almost 42 years, and raised 3 daughters, one of whom we lost in 1999, as a result of a horrible car accident, when she was 17 years old. Jenna lived almost 10 years after that accident, but with multiple physical as well as cognitive disabilities. So I now have 2 special angels in heaven! I am an RN, and currently looking for a new job, possibly in the Pediatric Home Health Care Arena. Both of my other DD's live out of state, & I miss them too! I live with my faithful cat, Sable T., who is a 10 year old "torty".Email: dubnick2@aoldotcom
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast is my favorite meal! I love preparing family-requested recipes for getting together. I've recently been interested in finding recipes that serve just one or 2, so that I don't have a refrigerator full of leftovers! My tastes are pretty traditional, but I'm willing to try new things. I enjoy baking from scratch, as well as quick and easy!I also love to can, and make homemade jams!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My best loved favorites would include my lasagne, baked beans, roast beef dinner, southern fried chicken, and New England clam chowder. Candy making is one of my favorites, too, and my homemade caramels are wonderful!I love making my Mother's old recipes, like her German potato salad!
My cooking triumphs
One of the most fun, cooking experiences was hosting a Christmas Breakfast potluck, for my nurse buddies! I made 2 main dishes, and then everybody contributed something. We had such a good time, and lots of recipes were exchanged.
My cooking tragedies
Probably my worst failure was the time I canned kosher dill pickles. I bought a bushel of pickles at the Farmers Market, and made dozens of quarts of dills, only to have them all end up being soggy, and not crunchy. SOOO disappointing, after all that time and effort!

Clone of a Cinnabon
Adding my 5 stars to the 2000+! I followed the recipe exactly, and added some raisins and chopped walnuts. These are BY FAR the easiest and BEST tasting cinnamon rolls I have EVER made. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe! ♥

Pumpkin Fluff Dip
This was really good! I used Koolwhip Free, and cheesecake pudding mix ... going to take it to work and share the yumminess! I'll serve with sliced honeycrisp apples, Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread cubes, and Anna's Ginger Thins ... and I just found an AR recipe for these cookies, called "Traditional Swedish Pepparkakor" that I can't wait to try! Thanks for this great recipe! ♥
