Apple Pie I

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
My 18-year-old daughter's favorite dessert is the apple pie. When I told her I was trying this recipe, she cringed. I went exactly as described and now I am "not allowed" to use any other. My daughter states the cinnamon is what does the trick, plus fresh apples, which my other recipe called for neither. (It is now referred to as 'the fake recipe'.) I have made your apple recipe a few times already and each time, it is very delicious. It is going down in my hall of fame recipe book. Thank you!

Ground Turkey Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
My family enjoyed this meal. I served it with broccoli on the side but like another reader, I used spaghetti sauce instead of tomato because of the preference. I added garlic salt, onion powder and basil to the dish. It was very simple to create which I love the most. It is a keeper.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2008
I did this recipe as is. The morsels threw it off for me. I should have listened to another who used mini morsels but now, they have to go! I had this deliciously created cake and then I'd get a nasty taste of cocoa from the morsels. The morsels did not blend well for my tastes (although they melted) with the other chocolates. They were like the 3rd uninvited guest coming to ruin the party. I'm not giving up though: I am going to make it again (it is good, worth it *and* sweet!) but with OUT the morsels. I know it will be a keeper of a recipe!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
I used fresh baby carrots and the rest can be done with your eyes closed. I tripled the batch for next day left overs and they tasted sweeter from marinating in the butter/sugar. What a simple, yet delicious recipe.

Baby Carrots And Brussels Sprouts Glazed With Brown Sugar and Pepper

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Being a Vegetarian, I used vegetarian broth and 1/2 tsp of Lemon Pepper based on other reviews of too much pepper. I cooked my fresh carrots, then added my frozen broccoli with it till tender. I transferred to a pan where I added the broth mixture. This cut my cooking time greatly. Very good dish! Will make again. I enjoyed the tint of sweet.

Green Pea Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
I left out the pimento, water chestnuts but should have left out those plus the tomatoes and cream of celery. I think the celery soup threw it off for me. Next time, I'll stick with my peas, onions with salt/pepper and not mess with good enough.

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
This was amazing! Being me .. I used 2 eggs verses 4 and canned yams drained verses 'fresh'. This made the brownies hold together in a super moist way. I was afraid 4 eggs would be too brownie like. Excellent decision! The only thing I will do differently the next time I make this is to double the batch. My MIL said, "This was better then any chocolate brownie I have ever tasted." I have to agree!

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
My non-vegetarian 20 year old, with BBQ chicken left overs, asked for a chicken spread. She used Miracle Whip instead of regular mayo and added an extra pinch of salt/pepper and spread this on chicken flavored and Ritz crackers. She made an easy appetizer that turned out to be dinner with a salad on the side. My meat eating family loved it. This is now added in the family cookbook.

Easy Easy Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
I am in between paydays, placing together odd dishes from recipes I am finding daily from this site. I came upon this Easy Easy Casserole recipe, thought it had to be the most hideous, thought up concoction I have ever heard of. I did not try it myself because I am Vegan but my family is not. I did replace the tomato sauce as someone else suggested with Manwich and my family FLIPPED OUT over this dish. Although this was not an attractive dish, they each took some for lunch the next day and have asked me when am I making it again. I'm seriously debating on rather I should try this in Vegan style. This isn't fair to the human now. Thank you so much! Any negative reviews on this recipe needs to be readjusted and tried again. Excellent family pleaser!

Tilapia with Creamy Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This was suberb! Instead of microwave, I used a small saucepan on the stove. Next time, I'll use less lemon juice for a richer cream cheese taste vs the lemon. Excellent & a keeper! Thank you!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2007
I prepared as stated with no changes. I cooked as stated. Cabbage was half cooked. I had to add a little water to keep from burning to dish with hopes it would also help cook the cabbage. Thirty minutes later, I had no choice but to remove it. If I ever try to make this again, I will at least soak the cabbage prior to baking. I'm sure it would have been a great dish but I have no idea what went wrong. We ended up eating grilled cheese sandwiches.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
FINALLY! A recipe that has my family buzzing about how I will never buy joes from a can again! Thank you! I did make a few adjustments according to our taste buds: Ground turkey, tomato sauce, bell pepper instead of celery, no vinegar, and an 1/8 cup of brown sugar instead of a 1/4. Thank you!!

Grandmother's Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
I personally hate bread pudding but since I haven't had it in at least 10 years, I thought I'd give it a try. I left out the extract because I didn't have any and raisons are not a family favorite so those were omitted. I still don't like bread pudding yet this is the best I've ever tried. A simple, not much to do about anything kind of recipe. I've printed it off so when the next 10 years comes around, I'll have it. Three stars are based on the fact that I'm printing it out, not that it's my favorite dish. If you are into this kind of food ... This is the recipe to try!!!

Amish Sauerkraut Surprise Custard Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
I like sauerkraut but nothing you do this dish will improve it. Still, reading the other reviews I went out of my way to drain any excess liquid yet there was still more then there should have been. I added cinnamon to cover the smell. Time to bake ran almost 2 hours. The entire family tasted it and it does NOT taste like coconut. It was horrible to be bluntly honest and the smell was not of this world. Thankfully, it didn't go to waste: Living out in the country, I tossed it to the possums. If you try this recipe ... don't expect a miracle but you can still pray over it before you start. Good luck!
