About this Cook
I have cooked for myself for a while, but am just learning to REALLY cook. I believe that almost anyone can cook almost anything if they follow the instructions. That being said, I am a very experimental cook, and I almost never follow a recipe. I can start out making fried chicken and wind up with a lovely pork roast by the time I'm done substituting. Sometimes this yields great successes, sometimes not so much.
My favorite things to cook
I love preparing things that just include a few ingredients combined into one simple, but tasty dish. I've got a 3 ingredient chocolate torte that would knock your socks off.
My cooking tragedies
I occasionally use the smoke detector as a timer.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
Good. Stayed soft and fresh tasting for a long time.

Ginger Shrimp with Fried Rice
Very good. I only follow the recipe for the sauce, and threw in whatever veggies I have on hand. I also usually add peppers to this one to heat it up a bit.

Vicki's Hush Puppies
Pretty good. I just used regular old flour and cornmeal, since I didn't have any self rising on hand. I also used vidalia onion (it's a sweet onion), and a bit more sugar. I eyeballed the liquid, so couldn't tell you if I used more or less than the recipe called for.
