My favorite things to cook
mexican food is my specialty; but i love to make italian food and i love to bake cakes and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my mother's enchiladas, tamales, and fried chicken recipes are staples. my grandmother makes the perfect mexican rice that try as i might, i can't duplicate :)
My cooking triumphs
italian food, mastering my mom's recipes, making an entire thanksgiving meal on my own from scratch last year, and i've become a pretty good cake decorator/baker.
My cooking tragedies
eh i might have burned some things a few times.

Pork Chops O'Brien
i really liked this recipe. it was easy and quite good. i just made my own o'brien potatoes with onion and diced bell pepper and garlic, instead of the frozen kind. it didn't alter or overpower anything at all for me.

Parmesan Baked Potatoes
I really loved the idea of this recipe. My tweaks consisted of cutting the butter back to 3 tablespoons and making up the rest of the amount with extra light olive oil, using more than 3 tbls of pecorino romano, using 1/2 inch rounds of regular russet potatoes (washed but not peeled), and sprinkling the top with salt, pepper, dried thyme, and slices of onion before I baked it. This is definitely going in my file for recipes that can be varied endlessly. Thanks.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies II
I didn't change a thing on this recipe and it was one of the best cookies I've ever had. I am DEFINITELY going to keep this and make it again and again.
