About this Cook
Me is a we. We are a couple who loves to cook together.
My favorite things to cook
Ribs, steak, chili, anything Mexican, and trying out new recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving 2007 was pretty awesome: Salvadorian turkey posted on here, blue corn stuffing with chorizo, Asiago sweet potatoes, pear-apple-walnut-feta green salad, pumpkin pie and persimmon pudding with rum'd berries.
My cooking tragedies
I once lost my brain the day after Thanksgiving and rather than using cornstarch to thicken, I grabbed cream of tartar. That was the sourest soup ever! Blech!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
The chicken was very tasty - I thought it was going to be too much garlic, but it was just right. Tastes a lot like the pre-packaged stir fry sauces that come frozen w/ all the fixins, but fresher. I added stir fry veggies, and made some rice. Good, but if you're in a hurry, you're just as well off getting the frozen.

Salvadorian Roasted Turkey
We tried this on a turkey breast to try out the recipe. I had to guess at the amounts, but it made a very delicious tasting turkey. We plan to make it again this Thursday for our "slightly untraditional" Thanksgiving. A bit of work, but very yummy. I used purchased roasted pumpkin seeds - in shells. This time when I shopped, there were ones w/ no shells, but barring opening up a pumpkin, I could not find raw seeds. Thanks for the recipe!

Sea Bass Cuban Style
I love this - there are so many flavors, yet they combine nicely into one. It's such a beautiful dish, it would be great for entertaining. Perfect served with a bagutte, for soaking up all the lovely sauce.
