About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Soups, Salads, Pie's, Cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always have Pecan and Pumpkin Pie at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My Mom made the best classic stuffing. Nothing weird like 7 grain bread or corn bread. I can do a pretty close version to my Mom's.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to make really, really good pie crust.
My cooking tragedies
I was told by Hugh Carpenter (author of Wok Fast) that "you can never get a wok too hot". Umm, yes you can! And you can produce huge, leaping flames! Just remember, take the lid to your new wok out of the box and have it close by. I don't really stir fry much any more.
