About this Cook
I am a wife of one and a mother of two. I have recently started to enjoy cooking, however frustrating it might be when you're two year old spits out the dinner you just spent 2 hours on. Most of the time I prefer time with my family over any other activity. Since becoming a mom the thing I miss most would probably be sleep or freedom to do what I what when I want. Now everything revolves around naptime, dinner time, bath time, and bed time. None of which are my time! But, I try to enjoy every moment. One day I will look back and wish I had kids wrapped around my legs or screaming mommy.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that has four or more stars!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to love to help my Grandmother cook when I was little because she let me use my hands. But now I ask her for a recipe and she says, "Well, you know, a handful of this and a little of that. Some butter, sugar, salt, and just whatever I want really." Well, now, every time I want to learn how to make one of my Grandmother's recipes I call her and ask if we can have a day together and her teach me how to cook that meal. Every time she get a handful, before she drops it in the pot I take it and measure it (I have to bring my own measuring cups because she really doesn't have any). She has taught me so much. I love cooking with my Goose!
My cooking tragedies
I usually follow a recipe exactly. When it's done I taste it. If I feel it's missing something, I ask my husband.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
We give this a four only because we added some things...but this was a great base to start. We added the beef broth but only had a 10 ounce can, so we added a couple shakes of liquid smoke and about half a bottle of hickory smoke A-1. Put it in the crock pot for fours hours and followed the instructions the rest of the way. It was AMAZING!!!! I would give the meal that came out 5 stars, but because we didn't stick to the recipe exact, I gave it 4...hope that makes sense.

Tomato, Cucumber and Red Onion Salad with Mint
We add a few little less onion but that's just personal preference. The first time we tried this we took it to a party. It was a hit. We took an empty bowl home with us!

Sugar Coated Pecans
I doubted my husband when he wanted to get all fancy and make these. I admit I was wrong. These are awesome! We put them in a spinach salad with strawberries, mozerella cheese and a poppy seed dressing.
