I am a married mother of two beautiful children. My husband is a devout vegetarian and has been for more than 20 years so through a lot of experimentation I've learned to make a vegetarian version of just about every dish you can name. He is also severely diabetic so I am the queen of lo carb and sugar free cooking. As far as my children are concerned, they are 4 and 2 so if it isn't a chicken nugget they're not interested lol.
My favorite things to cook
I am currently on a bread craze. I am trying every bread recipe I can get my hands on. There is just something therapeutic about kneading dough, and much cheaper than a therapist lol.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am from a long line of hillbillies lol. So, I grew up believing that everything was better if you added a scoop of bacon grease. I have since modified most of my family recipes to be much healthier, but you'll still occasionally catch me saving my bacon grease.
My cooking triumphs
My family used to own a bar and grill in Portsmouth where I grew up. We did a blue plate lunch special and every Wednesday I cooked my recipe for Loaded Baked Potato Soup. We would start getting orders an hour before we opened and evetually started selling it by the pint.
My cooking tragedies
I followed a recipe on here for a pineapple glazed chicken with cranberry stuffing. It turned out beautifully, it would have made the perfect picture for the cover of a cook book. No one in my picky family would touch it and I ended up turning it into chicken salad.
